Good night for a bonfire
We had a couple of decent size brush piles left from fence building last summer, and tonight was perfect weather for burning. No wind, temp dipping down below freezing as the sun went down.
My wife is just visible in the left side of the pics. She's nearly 6 feet tall, so that'll give you a better perspective.

Re: Good night for a bonfire
It's hard to believe the amount of heat a fire like that radiates. Getting closer than about 15 feet was impossible for a while.
It was a mixture of dried spruce boughs, old fence posts, and maple limbs.
I think I cooked the anti-reflective coating on me spectacles with this one..

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions, the Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off.

It lit up our little corner of the northern hemisphere for a couple of hours. My initial concern that it might be still too damp to catch was soon laid to rest.

What did you use to start the fire?
