Here are a couple of pictures my Brother took last Elk Season of a stump that had the tree logged likely some years ago .

In Southern Oregon near Prospect . What we found Really cool was the spring board notches are still visible .

Up in Patten (logging museum) I think someone told us that they used to use a team of horses up front with with a pole to steer these lombard log haulers. Impressive machines.

A two man team working in a coordinated manner could cut quite a lot of timber using a two man crosscut saw and axe. It is truly amazing just how much board feet of lumber those crews cut while harvesting those virgin forests.:thumbsup:
