Neighbor calls today and says can you stop by? The wife and I drive over and they are moving in a 24x48 house !!!

They have the fence cut down and need to pull the house up a hill about 30 degrees 200 yards long ... soft ground. The house mover, who by the way knew his job, Lemons Movers, Inc. says its going to be a tough uphill pull thru the cow pasture.

He hooked up two 4x4 ford F-250 pickup trucks to each side beam, a skid steer with tracks to the front of the truck and the uphill climb started ... about 70% of the way up eveyone spun out ... the house was backed down the hill and then a Kubota M7040 took the place of the skid steer and the skid steer went behind to push ... the horn sounded on the big rig and the uphill race was agian on ... those F-250's threw mud all over ... the skid steer couldn't keep up and slack in the chain between the truck and the kubota .... the neighbor quickly up shifted the Kubota and when the "mud" setteled the house was up the hill.

Dad gum it ... no camera ... but check this out Lemons Company - House and Structural Moving, Bridge Building, and Demolition in Texas founded by his father, the two brothers worked for dad until 1976 and then Billy took over the operation. They moved it from Whitesboro Texas to Caddo Oklahoma.

I was very impressed with the job Billy Lemons and his crew did.

Everything except the stove and fridge ... I also noticed no cracks in the sheetrock. The second truck had the deck and misc supplies ... well its axle deep and stuck!!

Then Billy showed me a notebook of pictures ... they also build bridges. Makes you stop and think how these guys are so good at their jobs ... true professional who took the time to talk to me about the things they do, kept working and I followed them around asking questions and never once did they indicate I was a bother.

Then I noticed a 2" pvc pipe across the top of the house from one end to another along the ridge and kinda looped down on the front, I asked whats the PVC for and get this ... electrical/phone lines ... they (the lines) meet the pipe and simply flow over the house and never get hung up AND that way they don't have to wait for the power company.

Tandem rear axles that float on the beams ... AND to slide the home onto the foundation .... IVORY liquid soap.

Also ... 60 MPH down the highway with escorts .. It was pretty darn cool.

Years ago I worked for a construction company and we moved a house from its original spot onto a new basement foundation at a different location on the lot. A lot of prep work had to be done to prepare for the move. Structure had to be reinforced, all furniture out and stripped shingles to make weight for the crane.

My brother lives in Whitesboro and I've seen their yard there. I have a small 24x24 building to move and probably should use them to do it since they have all the right equipment to get the move done in a short time with no damage. Hmm. . . Thanks for putting that idea into my head.
