But the day would get intersting very quickly. I saw in the local newspaper the day before about how the city rejected bids on two surplused items. Ok, just local news no skin off my nose. Didn't pay attention to the entire article, but our maintenance man did. He told me he bought a Livingston boat with trailer, and two motors with fuel tanks for $150.00!!!! I congatulated him on his purchase:thumbsup:. Now he tells me what I should seriously consider to buy
. It's the second item that was for sale for $800.00. It's a Fire truck, a 1965 Ford F800 with 7,759 miles on it:thumbsup:, front mount pto pump. a 1000 gallon booster tank with two reel boosters of 1.75" x 150' hoses!!!!! He tells me not think to long if I was interested, quickly called my Marine Corps son and asked if he was interested, Yep, called the fire chief and asked if everything worked..sure does. Drove down to city hall-they had the title at the counter waiting for me. Who says city hall does not work fast. Fire chief called ahead of my arrival and said he sold it to me. Now I have my own "fire apparatus" as they are called for our 80 acres. Come to find out that eight other individuals had called after I put down a desposit and they wanted to buy it. I'll bet they were wheat ranchers neding it for first response until volunteer dept shows up. Wrapped up the deal with the city and now I have 4.5 drive to get it to the property sometime this spring. Two things I found need repair-tail light and an RPM gauge for the pump. Now the grandkids are realizing what fun they'll have this coming summer.
