Consider the new debate. Both conservatives and liberal gun advocates think they can win the argument by moving it to mental health categories. Go back through your same historical process, and you find the definition of "crazy" changes just as easily as the laws for gun control. So does the definition of human.

The ideas we need to win are not limited to gun rights. Though many in the anti gun crowd consider the desire of numerous guns and ammo to be "crazy." Many liberals consider a devout faith in God to be crazy. Or the desire to consider the unborn as human, crazy.
A few years ago, homosexuality was listed in the DSM-IV, as a mental health issue. Now, you are a hater or crazy if you speak against it.
The gun issue, is just one small red flag among many. Moving the debate to mental health in no way diminishes the degradation of our societal freedoms into a truly undesirable entity, bearing no resemblance to the founders country.
I agree with your views. It's the changing society that needs to discuss all issues. But it is becoming difficult to have discussion, as the conservative view has carefully been moved closer and closer to society's version of crazy.
If we don't want that to happen, we need to convince more people of the soundness of the conservative perspective, and the history of our country."The only thing necessary for the triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke*

Re: Notice to Missouri Gun Owners - HB545
This is something that I have found troubling since the decision. It is very disturbing to me to think that the 2nd Amendment was upheld by the Supreme Court by only one vote! The reelection of our most liberal president ever could very well spell the end of our 2nd Amendment rights. There is a very good chance that there will be one or more replacements to the Court during this term. You can be quite certain that they will not be pro-gun!
