I did an all day canoe trip today. I got on the river at 0630 at Peacock Bridge.

Getting an early start always increases your odds of seeing wildlife. I was able to drift up on this little fellow while he was having a drink.

These water bugs hadn't even started their work day.

Well I only stood on the dock and threw ball in the water for the dog. He swam in the Mississippi River while I drank three beers. Dan

There are lots of shoals on this part of the river. As a result, you don't see very many boats up here.

This is Rebel Shoal, but I have always called it My Cousin's Bowl Shoals. My cousin Mikie found three smoking pipes here. Two of the stone pipes that Indians used, and one of the long clay pipes favored by Colonist. I ate my breakfast on the little island you can see on the right side of the river.

A 360 degree view of my breakfast spot. The little island is only about 15 yards long, and 3 yards wide.

This part of the river reminded me of a canopy road.

This guy was fishing for a living. I was so focused on trying to get a good picture of him that I got hung up on the shoals and had to step out of the canoe and float it over the rocks. {I guess I have reached my photo limit, so I will have to post them this way}

Thanks for sharing. Very nice river...surprised you have rocks. Not surprised to see hydrilla. We have some, too.

My plan yesterday was to fly fish our local river by wading, but morning chores took too long, and afternoon showers made me decide to catch up on some paperwork. Probably go out early tomorrow and wade or kayak a stretch.

Thanks for taking me along for the ride! I grew up on clear water river, always fun to be on.
