Maine.gov knocked offline

I've been tryingto get there all morning, now i know why it isn't working. Apparantly this group has done this in the past, in other states.

Recent events sure illustrate that neither US governments or US businesses can protect their sites, their systems or their customer data from these groups. They are just not smart enough v. these criminal elements.

Users beware.

The only motivation for US gov is political pressure and the only motivation for businesses is class action lawsuits. Got letter in mail Saturday from Anthem saying my name, DOB, SS#, may be "impacted" (aka stolen) in their 80,000,000 January data breach. No mention the fools failed to encrypt the data, but bless their hearts, they are providing free credit monitoring for 2 years. BFD

Thats not totally true. In most cases stupid users are to blame as they click on anything. That impacts governments as well as corporations. The other place where we see a large gap in defense is patching. Governments as well as corporations are stubborn about applying the patches. This gives hackers an easy in. What is lacking is adequate spending based on risks.

As I mentioned earlier, I had been trying to access the website all morning, before chancing upon the article above. My first thought was that it was in response to some comment which our rather loud mouthed governor had made... But NewHampshire's site got shut down as well.

PS: I don't know who that country singer is, either. :D
