TSC never keeps their stock up!!!!!

Customer service is bad at lots of stores. Had a lady at my pharmacy tell me yesterday, "there's nothing you can do about it, it's company policy". My reply, " there's something i can do about it, i can take my business elsewhere."

I just bought cabinet hinges from amazon, because HD and lowes only carry 2 sizes, neither what i needed.

Funny thing is the more brick and mortar stores complain about competing with the Internet the more they seem to force customers to shop on the Internet. I have a pat response to the "we can order it for you" line, I just say no thanks, so can I. Plus I can save the drive, the tax and the aggravation and have it shipped to my door just as fast if not faster as you can get it and I don't have to come and pick it up and pay you for nothing.

My problem with them is they carry lots of cheap made in China tools, hardware, etc. It's basically a high price Harbor Freight.

The only good thing is that sell bolts by the pound.

If you have a local hardware store support them instead of corporations like TSC or Lowes.

Ya, I like my local Smiths Farm Store/ACE Hardware for that.. Go in, grab a handful of screws and place in a paper bag. Done. Or buy just the 3 I need at the time. No need to worry about only buying a 10ct blister pack or the monster 5000ct bucket with nothing in between..

TSC has small stores around here so that limits what they can carry. That being said, why is it logical to use 25% of the limited floor space for horse feed? :confused3: Perhaps they haven't noticed tractors replaced horses?

Hobby farms.. Their main interest.

Boy isn't that the truth. If I can wait a couple days for it I'm most likely going to order it online because I can get EXACTLY what I want. The main advantage brick and mortar has is in stock inventory. With this "just in time" delivery craze they seem to not have enough in stock and delivery isn't quite often enough. For large bulky items i.e. implements/appliances, tires, it still is nice to be able to go look at things. I still won't buy certain things if I can't look at it first.

email for Board of Directors - board@tractorsupply.com

CEO is Greg Sandfort.

I wrote to the board at the address I listed above. I expressed concerns and included a link to this forum. This is the reply I received:

Good Morning,

Thank you for contacting us and sharing some insight about our customers perceptions. We will look into each one of these and see how we can improve. We continuously strive to stay instock for our customer and adjust our assortment based on our customer shopping habits.

I would like to inquire with you about your perception of our stocking levels and assortment we carry in our stores. If you could share some more thoughts or insights that may be helpful I would greatly appreciate it.

I appreciate any insight you can provide,

Hank McMullan

If he had read the postings, he would have seen what the perception of stocking levels are. Sounds like a canned corporate response.

A Rural King is opening in Sept - 53 miles from my house in Va. Looking forward to finally getting to see what the fuss is about!

Where will the new Rural King be located?

In Ontario anyway, TSC used to be a hardware store with a leaning toward rural/farm customers. The shift has been slowly toward lots and lots of clothing. Probably there are better margins. Now the hardware offerings arn't any better or different from any other hardware store.

As far as inventory. All the retailers are guilty. They don't give a crap about the customer's time. And, in a sense, I don't have a right to go into THEIR store and make a scene (which I do). They have the right to run their business as they please. Except maybe for one thing. They have a flyer put in MY mailbox, enticing me to come into their store.
