Wife and I went for a walk on Saturday, November 26th and she spotted this little garter snake on the side of the trail. It was one cold, docile snake. It was laying on black asphalt in the sun trying to get warm, but the asphalt was cold as ice. I moved it to a dark pile of warm to the touch leaves in the sun by the side of the trail. It was still there on our way back about 45 minutes later. But this time at least it moved with some speed when I moved my hand towards it. Hope if finds a burrow for the winter.

As much as I like snakes  glad the little follower got another chance.

That is unusual. The snakes here have been holed up since late September.

We found one in January a few years back, a few warm days brings out the hunger in them i guess.

Back when I used to hunt pheasants in, one of the guys killed a rattlesnake sunning himself on a rock. Now this was in November in Southern Kansas. They are like Uncle Joe, moving kinda slow, but seeing one that time of year was a shock.

Last year I was ice fishing in February and there were turtles sunning on logs near open water. That was a first for me, too. Weird weather.
