disconect the pressure tank and run pump till water runs clear set up so you can valve down the flow if it starts sucking air reconnect tank and run till the water is clar again
Disconnect pressure tank...if it's been untouched for that long I wonder if that will cause more problems than it solves (I think that is where I learned some new swear words when everything went back together and the leaks started). I'm guessing they have the old style tank (no bladder) and it had some rust on the inside that got dislodged when somebody put the wrenches to a pressure valve that has been there for awhile. OP said that the problem cleared after running...hope that was done at the tank but if not time to move around the house and clean all the aerator screens on the faucets. If it persists, then I'll opine that a bladder type tank will not break the bank.
