It seems like there common on my land.

Looks like a Garter Snake.

(Note: These can also look like a Ribbon Snake)

Yes - garter snake. Here they are yellow/black or orange/black striped.

Beneficial snake. Usually pretty docile, too. But be warned that if you try to pick it up, it can emit a pretty good stink. :laughing:

And they are happy to take a bite out of you if you let them!

It's just a couple pin holes....

My grandma got bit by one in her garden. We took her for a tetanus shot. The Dr. asked how she got bit.... she said it bit her when she grabbed it! Dr. Asked why she grabbed it... "It was in my garden." :)

It seems like most of the snakes I pick up emit a stink. One pooped on me this summer.

This is some of what we have here in Ohio. I believe it's a Cow Snake. Similar to a black snake, not poisonous, good snake. Unlike the rattlesnakes and copperheads we have too.
