I have been wrestling with my fleece zip up for about 9 years now. Bought it at the Avalon (Australian) Airshow in 2009. The zipper pull is on the wrong side! Wife says it is a women's... I say no, the label says XL (I'm an XL to XX depending). So... the question is, do you upside down folk flip the zipper side too? Either you have very big women (not nice) or the Chinese got it wrong or ????

Truth be told, I just checked two of my zip-up jackets... one 'pull' is on the right and the other is on the left.

Neither specifically says that it's a ladies or gentleman's garment. Unless the garment comes from some 'Women's Only' boutique, then either/or is perfectly acceptable (and your lovely wife is WRONG).

I, of course, am secure in my masculinity and will wear the zip on either side; happy in the knowledge that the zipper actually works! It's amazing... one way (up) and two sides go into this pull 'thingy' and come out joined. The other direction (down) and the joined sides become two sides again!

It's right up there with the miracle of a "Thermos"!!! Hot stuff goes in and it stays hot. Cold stuff goes in and it stays cold. HOW DOES IT KNOW!?! :confused3:

Don't ask me! I'm still trying to figure out why they don't fall off the earth standing upside down like that. And it was really scary when I arrived in Australia on a plane and the plane landed upside down - and you couldn't even tell!😜

Jeez - here it is 4:45am and I'm down in the hall closet checking all my zipper pulls!!! Well, Aerostich, Klim, Kara Koram, Harley Davidson & BMW all have their zipper pull on the right hand side. Not that it would make any difference.

It's strange how my memory works or fails. I can't remember where I put my keys ten minutes ago, but I do recall a Canterbury of New Zealand jacket that I purchased about 40 years ago (in SC). It sticks in my mind because the zipper pull was on the wrong side.:)

It is an English thing. All Canadian and British clothing has the zipper pull on the Left (wrong side from USA). I didn't research it but I think it is a hold over from the ancient times when English aristocracy had people to dress them. This is why women's clothes have the buttons on the wrong side to this day. For someone who is dressing another person, it is easier if the buttons and zippers are all reversed.

As Gary said, it is a UK thing. I have read about this before, not only do the Brits drive on the wrong side of the road, the zippers are backwards too!:shocked::confused3::eek::laughing::laughing::laughing:

When we were in Scotland I bought a nice fleece jacket from the RNLI shop. The zipper is on the wrong side. :D:D:D Somehow I do manage to correctly use the zipper.:laughing:

Tis a really nice jacket and I wear it most days in the winter.

Later,
Dan

It does if your left-handed!

It seems my 10% of the population must suffer :) Somehow the rallying cry
LEFTIES RIGHTS
doesn't seem to work.

That's because the rallying cry has a punctuation error.:)

Ha ha this is funny because you pretty much have to live in a snow bank to understand why the zipper works this way! The fleece liner is designed to work with an outer shell! So that when you put the outer shell over the fleece liner you can now zipper the liner into the shell So the zipper looks like it is on the wrong side but when you zip it into the outer shell it makes sense Check out the Columbia winter jackets to see how they work. The hi tech term is called Zip-in compatible .......you have to be Canadian to understand
