Have 6 stumps that I still need to take out. Smallest is 3" diameter, biggest is around 16".

Mentioned this to a friend, and he tells me that he has a Ditch Witch that can do the job.

I know you have the right tool for the the job, so I'm wondering if I could actually use his ditch witch.

Only reason I'm wondering is I know this guy pretty well, and he made some "statements" on other subjects that I know for a fact is wrong, so I'm questioning his judgement.

Anyone use a ditch witch to remove tree stumps? Pros or cons?

Just looking at "clearing" the stumps, put some topsoil on and grow some grass.

Thanks

I'd think if used to trench around the tree and sever the roots, that it would (could) work real well.
Sounds like it would be worth a try, and if he says his will do it, take him up on showing you how well it works.
Nothing to lose, IMO.

I don't think it would chew up the stump itself, but maybe that is even possible at least for the small ones.

Thks

That was what I was thinking.

Only thing I was worried about was if it dug alot of dirt up as well and clean up.
