So, Im on poop patrol this morning picking up all the little landmines in the yard. After picking up several piles I notice what looked like holes coming up (im assuming up because the dirt looks push up) from the ground under the piles.. Then after looking more closely, there are holes under almost all of the piles..

Any ideas on what this is? I am guessing its an X-File 'thing' feeding on the poop. LOL

the puppy is about 13 weeks old and was just wormed last week..

just curious

I can't answer your question but, when our dogs go out to do their business, I go out to clean up. I have the basic aluminum scoop that stays against the fence and a barrel just for the dog waste that gets taken to the dump twice a week. When I'm away during the week, it may not get picked up as I'd like and I absolutely hate when I find a pile with a footprint in it.

Sounds like moles. I have them all over the top of my septic field.

Wow, I didn't know "poop patrol" was a common term. We do that too. Sounds like a TV show doesn't it?

How big are the holes?

Sorry, can't help. Since I have 20 acres and only one dog I don't bother to pick up the piles. I feed a high quality dog food so the piles are small and dry and no problem.

Afternoon Brian.
I also would say some type of mole, and those little buggers sure can kick up some dirt....they say if you got moles than you got grubs, and skunks love grubs.

I haven't noticed any holes in the lawn my guys use to do their business, which is over the septic tile bed. I patrol the area most days so nothing stays there very long except in the winter, but winter hasn't come this year, yet!

Picking up dog poop,,,,reason I'm posting is,,we don't want to get to thinking,,picking up dog poop is normal,,,this is a new behaiver,,brought about by subarbs and mans love for dog,,,this is not normal,,,,,even less normal is asking about what kinda condition or ground the poop was on..... Have never picked up ANY dog poop,,will never pick up any dog poop,,,,you see a lot about it on tv,,,but,,,don't believe everything you see on tv,,,,,,non dog poop picker upper for life,,,thingy

Lol,

Thingy, I'm also in the "non dog poop picker upper for life" club. We have 12 acres, plus with our 150+ pound English Matiff I'd need a snow shovel. :D

Our dog has free run of our 3.6 acres (no fences) and she knows where her boundaries are. That being said, I don't clean up after her... however, I do keep the mower blade very low in the summer and it all seems to disappear. :p

In the winter, when I was a kid, I remember my dad hitting frozen piles over the fence with a golf club...
It took the problem out of our yard, and I'm not sure the neighbors out back ever made it to the back of their land to discover it!
(Don't try this at home kids)
