Default My Day for Wierd Things to Happen

Fresh off my dirt scoop experience (See Attachments Discussion), I another weird one happened.

I was box blading an area. I pressed on the rear pedal (HST) and backed into position, then set my foot on the floor forward of the rear pedal. My next move was to get off the tractor, or so I thought. I awkwardly fell to the ground .

What happened was…after I took my foot off the rear pedal my pants leg wrapped around the pedal. When I went to dismount, the tractor said "not-so-fast"

This had never happened to me before in the 20 hours I have put on my new machine. The difference was in the shoes I was wearing. I normally wear my "cowboy" boots when doing tractor work. They fill up my pants leg. This time I was wearing a low cut shoe and those Wranglers got hung up on the pedal. I am glad no one was watching because it must have been a funny sight. Watching a guy take a header getting off a compact tractor.

The sad thing is that it happened two other times after that. No I didn’t header each time but it was close.

Moral of the story. Wear them boots. They are better for kicking those lift arms anyway.

Mike,
You better call it a day before something else happens

I got to give you credit. Most people may have told us they fell, but not many would have told us they did the same thing twice after.

P.S. sounds like something I would have done.

I have had my shirt hang up on the fel joystick several times while jumping off the right "wrong" side of my tractor. Although I have not fallen I have come close and try to be mindful. Don't worry if nobody saw it it didn't really happen.

Boy I hate it when that happens.

Most of the time those things happen to me when there is a panel of olympic judges watching. They tend to rate the action with howls of laughter.

Or worse, you fall flat on your face narrowly escaping serious injury and nobody sees how close to death you just came. Then you get the responce, you need to be more careful.

The recent freezing rain we had here made for some very interesting dismounts yesterday for me as well. I had to get on and off the tractor a few times to move various vehicles out of the way to plow the driveway.

I usually get off my 4100 by swinging my right leg over the hood and stepping down to the left. Landing on one foot unexpectedly on ice is not recommended.

Yesterday was also the first time I got the front blade and wheels stuck in a snow bank while trying to bash back some 4 and 5-foot high piles. The tires were useless on the ice (no chains). The wife enjoyed teasing me as I shoveled it out.

mike I feel your pain, while using the backhoe today I slid off and bounced my right funny bone off the cab deck, needless to say the Kubota didn't get pressure washed when I got back to the house. Has anyone noticed that all the important control are located on the right hand side.

Mike:

Another case where duct tape would save the day.

Some of my coveralls have velcro fasterners on the leg so you can tighten them up. These wear out and I have used duct tape to keep everything tight.
