I'm not sure if this has been discussed before on TBN. I know I have heard of people being injured by bungie cords on a kayaking list I monitor. My mother in law as using some bungie cords this weekend to strap down a load on her car. The cord slipped and popped her in the eye. Luckily for her she was wearing glasses otherwise she would have lost her eye. As it is, she had to visit the emergency room and see an Opthamologist. She gets to visit the Eye Doc every day this week. Be VERY careful using bungies. This is not the first eye injury I have heard about. Later... Dan McCarty |

I had strapped a ladder to the roof rack of my Blazer with bungie cords. As I was removing one of the cords, it slipped out of my hand and flew across the top of the truck and through my garage window! That had to be at least 12 or 14 feet away! Those suckers can do some damage!

Mike - you're right. I learned my lesson after that cord went through that window, cause I kept thinking that my head could've been in the way! I now have nothing but tie down straps.

I heard a rumor they were trying to ban them from being made.
Sure are a handy device but yes I have had a few mishaps with them too, when trying to stretch them "just a bit more" Cheers |

Friend from work was "unhooking" one when it let loose from the far end. Resulted in a rip from the base of the persons nose down and through the upper lip. Also, loosened some teeth. They are very dangerous...
