Default Mechanic Killed?

Did anyone hear that a mechanic at a John Deere dealer in Michigan was killed this morning?

I happened to see a posting about it on another discussion forum, but there wasn't a lot of information. From what the posting said, the mechanic was working on the front end of a medium sized tractor. He had chained the front end up, but apparently the bolts slipped and dropped the front end onto his chest. His co-workers rushed to his aid, but by the time they got the tractor raised up, he was no longer breathing.

I was unable to get any additional information, so I'm not even sure where in Michigan this was supposed to have happened.

If nothing else, it sure reminds us all of how quickly things can go wrong!

Default Re: Mechanic Killed?

Story's like that, sure tend to open ones eyes as to how complacent we can become, when we say to ourselves. I done this many times, no problem.
An ignored jack stand, because we'll only be under the tractor for a minute or two. Or climbing off the machine without setting the brake or a dozen other simple safety measures we could and should take. But, Hey, Iv'e done this many times, it will only take a minute.
Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the mechanic. His death to, probably took "A Minute"
One can Never Be To Careful !!!!
