Wow you are lucky he only got your hand. Glad they caught him too. I know if it were me and he shot at me on my property he would of been taken out in a body bag. If his first shot dont count my shot will.

Why these thugs can't be kept locked up would get us into POLITICS.
But he should be hanging from a tree with a rope around his neck. Do you know WHY was he in your barn? Later, Dan |

Wow! What a lowlife. I'm glad it wasn't more serious for you.
With a shooting like that, I have no doubt that you'll be subpoenad to spend a few hours/days in the courtroom. Please keep us posted on the proceedings. That is unless the dirtbag gets off somehow. Then I don't want to hear about it.

I get very upset when criminals that should be in jail are out committing other crimes. Far to often people who commit crimes that should and sometimes do carry sentences punishable by lengthy prison terms are let off easy with probation or house arrest due to overcrowding of prisons and/or lenient judges. These people (like the guy you met last night) are then free to prey on the rest of us again. Most of them do go on to commit other crimes as is the case here. Make sure you let the officer involved know that you are serious about the prosecution of the case. Eventually, you will likely get to meet with the prosecutor of the case (a lawyer who works for your County's District Attorney's Office) Make sure you tell the prosecute that you strongly object to any plea agreement that will minimize this criminals jail time. If the case goes to trial...don't be intimidated. YOU ARE THE VICTIM! Tell the story as it happened and don't let anyone get you upset while you are on the stand. Last but not least, stand up and be heard at the sentencing hearing for this animal. Tell the judge (who will have the ultimate say in this guy's sentence) how you feel. Tell him what you would like to see happen. Since you are the victim you will have a right to be heard. Make sure this guy doesn't get away with a slap on the wrist. I hope you heal fast and I wish you and your family all the best as you go through this difficult time. |

I work for state corrections and it can still amaze me sometimes just how many dirtbags there are. We see the same guys over and over until they do something like this, then they wind up with a long sentence. Rest assured, this guy has screwed the pooch this time. As someone else recommended, stay completely active in this case and be a real pain in the butt to the county prosecutor. Let them know you will do what ever it takes to see that they prosecute him with the intent of obtaining the maximum sentence ( which should be quite substantial given prior criminal history).
