I kind of compacted stuff in my garage today. At least I didn't make it a drive through. Leaving stuff like a hammer on the floor were it can get under the hst peddel can cause panic real quick. I'll try not to do that again real soon /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

What, no pictures? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Glad you did not hurt yourself or anything major!

Have to keep this word of warning in the back of my mind...I have carried tools and a chain on the floor [deck? what do you call that area anyway?] of my tractor...never thinking something might jam my HST pedal.

Thanks for the heads up!

I have been guilty of the same thing. I have thrown everything from heavy work gloves to socket sets down on the drivers platform. No more......

Glad you were not injured and THANKS for the heads up as I also carry chains and a crowbar on my platform at times. If tractors had a decent sized toolbox it would encourage us to keep the stuff out from underfoot.

Reminded me of something that happened back around 1979, I was driving a rented Ryder cube van and the glass soda bottle the prior driver had stuffed under the seat rolled out under the brake pedal as I made a fast stop. Well, TRIED to make a fast stop. BANG. Good thing it wasn't a beer bottle as I had difficulty convincing both the police and the rental agency it wasn't MY bottle. Always checked underseat on a rental truck after that !!

I quess the manufacturers don't think that we will be needing or wanting any tools with us out in the field. The first manufacturer that includes a decent size toolbox will also be admitting that their make breaks down more often than the rest.

My old Oliver OC-3 had a tool box on the side and it sure was needed.... You could always count on something going wrong just when you could least afford to loose the time..... sold it and don't even miss it!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I kind of like "deck". In a former life, I ran tugboats (and other types) for a living. My tractor is kind of like a tug. Many of the same concepts apply. Approach immovable objects at slow speed. Go easy on the throttle when maneuvering around docks...I mean barns....Keep a sharp lookout ahead for hazards.

Incidentally, The most popular shiphandling and escort vessels today are known as "Tractor tugs". (Try a Google search).
