I guess if he did, the car that would have been following would have gotten rear-ended instead. I think the lesson is not to drive a tractor after dark on the road -- I'm sure the guy that hit him was drunk.

The article is a bit sparse. Did he have headlights, flashers, fanny flag, etc... If not he did not make a smart move. If he had all of that going, then the car that rear ended him is at fault. If you can't see a well lit up tractor at night then you should not be driving.
People think my tractor is a wrecker or highway maintenance vehicle at night. I intend to be seen.

That's about 17 miles from where I live. And hiway 47 is a busy road.
