That's just amazing. I saw that on one of those machines shows on the history channel some years ago, but didn't expect to see it in my woods anytime soon.

One interesting thing that I'm thinking about is how good it is for thinning out the forest without destroying it. It seems to have much less inpact on the terrain.

The military has been funding research on walking machines for some time now.

Mother Nature got it right, for crossing rugged terrain legs beat wheels, especially going up mountain sides.

I saw this post and got all excited!!! I'm a star wars freak!! Anyhoot, I saw that video before on some conservation web site. Can you imagine seeing that thing coming at you!!! Looks like it would be a maintenance nightmare with all those moving parts. Think of all the zerks!!!

Compare it to maintaining steel tracks in a mud and brush environment and I would imagine it would be LESS maintenance than existing tracked feller-bunchers.

Oh, if I could get one of these...
