Suction line is part of the tran casing and gets sealed by a o-ring goig to the MCV . FIRST THRO A SCREENFILTER THATS IN THE FILTERBOWL AND THEN THRO THE HYDR FILTER TO THE HYDR PUMP
Hyd pump is on your leftside of the tran casing where the hyd filter is but on the inside

Check for dirt in your steeringreturnline where it enters the mcv body. If that checkvalve is not working your pto will also not working...remove the pipe and then the union and the cage ...spring...

Plug with squere on righthandside of 3pointcasing....takes a 1/2 t-handle.....open it and take flat screwdriver and inside screw adjuster in 1 complete turn to get a neutral range on your lever .
IS your steering working ? Steeringreturn oil works your PTO !
FIRST TEST......Jack-up one front wheel and put tractor in 4x4 and try to spin that wheel .....if it spins you have a problem !
Second test.......check if propshaft is spinning .
The oilbath has a mark to fill ....clean enjineoil and never overfill ! Overfiill and oil can be sucked into the engine and you have a run-away engine !
Shimming needs spesial tool , but thats the princepal it works on , remembet that the valvebody with the extra hole comes at the bottom for the return oil !

Removed from tractor .....striped....cleaned ......old o-rings removed .......then 40 min to fit all 6 of them if your lucky

I know the Ford 5000 has a 4 silinder engine . It can take 2 tipes of injectorpumps .....a inline Simms pump and a CAV pump .Can you read in the pump or take a photo of the injecorpump ?
First ! You have a quadrant with a slot fitted to that shaft sticking out of the gearbox where that bush was sticky . Do that quadrant rotates a lot ? That will mix-up your gears and be a indication...

The geartipe pump mounts on the same place as the pistonpump ....only one bolt has to be change to a (longer/shorter) bolt and olso the piping ......Do you have a updrauft exhaust ? Then also a...
Best option is to replace pistonpump with a geartipe pump

Bales to tight ? With startup loosen adj on side of bales and after a few bales retighten again
Remove coverplate over gearlevers and clean housing that holds the gearlevers .....if there is another lever between the gearlevers it is the IPTO lever ! Then you have a hidraulic problem ......low...
Remember to check the glowresister on the dash aswell ! Do not heat up longer than 5 sec !
Loose mountingbolts of liftpump ....not the pipes....and pump by hand to see if pump is leaking fuel

How much is left from the wear fasing to the inside rivet ?
On the leverquadrant you have one lever......a little inner of that lever there is another lever much shorter and very springloaded coming out of the rockshafthousing .........up or down...

I have 34 years exp on repairing tractors . Did my appy ship on JD and work on 1020 up to 4450 . So a lot of experiance on 20...30....40 and the 50 series tractors . Have to see what Tx Jim has ?
Same feulliftpump has a strainer inside it .....remove lid and check strainer !
Can not guese .....between gearlevers ....is there another lever with a yellow knob ? When engine is shuttdown ....will not stay up ? If so it has a IPTO !
