    Framer is fast and accuracy is probably +/- 1/8" he nails or screws down a sheet of plywood every 8-10 inches in 10...

    And the transition part required from downspout to 3" drain is not standard nor do they have it in their truck so they 'did as usual'.
    Your drain is good idea but you somehow need a screen there....

    We also did a porch ceiling 12 X 24 that was flat but all windows on 3 sides. Butt joints were random but mated with 45 deg cuts. Walls were plaster board painted off white.

    I also did a ceiling in narrow thin pine that was fitted between beams. Look was awesome and resulted in making ceiling feel lower in a very bright room that was not all that large.

    Costs of fuels over time span vs convenience? --varies with region

    On any roofs that I did I proposed ice guard on the whole roof.
    Very cost effective as it is roll and stick; done.
    IMHO better than using more costly shingles and in effect it is your primary...

    I have done a fair bit of building and noticed that spiral saves very little floor cutout space.
    Also straight stair case allows for storage below while spiral only lets air (and dust) circulation....

    Sand would probably be acceptable as it compacts very well!
