    I agree that WD-40 is a light solvent. I feel that it would be safer to use than mineral spirits or paint thinner. Kerosene might be ok to use. I don't know what Stodard solvent is.

    Check the brake lines, those trucks are known for the brake lines rusting up. The rotors also rust badly on those trucks. I would do a pump upgrade to the transfer case as a preventive measure.

    With slop you are beating your implement pins up and your quick hitch. With slop it would make it tough to grade because the implement could move freely.
