  5. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

Several posts in this thread are proof of this statement.
  6. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

'YET' is the operative word. Diesel engines are being regulated, not legislated, out of existence.
  7. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

  16. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

You are referring to the ability of the aftermarket to tune the ECM. The references to changing the ECM in this thread have been related to VW doing it to comply with EPA regulations.
  17. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

That's interesting. VW has no way to update the ECM, for any reason, once it's been installed at the factory. Makes them somewhat unique in the passenger car world where reprogramming is possible at...
  18. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

I have not seen this in any of the media reports. Do you have a link?
  19. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

No, it's not what VW did. If you install a delete kit, the vehicle will not pass any kind of emissions test.

It will make a lot of lawyers a lot of money.

    Again with the delete....
  20. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

Money, and scalps, will fix the problem. I am sure the lawyers will be glad they are chasing slower diesels versus faster ambulances.

  25. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

Repeated posting of your opinion and flawed analogies doesn't turn them into facts.
  26. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

Thank you for admitting to inferring, i.e., I never said it.

If they are lucky, they will only have to reflash their ECMs so they always run in 'EPA Mode'.

  29. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

Others have corrected you. They passed the test when in EPA mode.
  30. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

Actually, they could and did meet the criteria. That's proven by the fact they passed the stationary emissions tests. They simply turned the controls off when they were not being tested.
  31. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

I have not seen any reports that indicated how many people were aware of this.
  32. Re: VW Clean diesels.... how did they get them so clean?

I can easily see no one asking, "How?"

    I can see them asking;

    1. Does the engine pass the EPA tests? Yes, it does.
    2. How's the performance? Here are the figures.
    3. How's the mileage?
