Buying Advice Re: Used JD 110 vs everything else

The complaint that I recall about the L48 had to do with the transmission speeds. Specifically, low was too low and the 2nd range was too high.

That alone would steer me towards the L45. I sat...

Buying Advice Re: Used JD 110 vs everything else

FYI - the weight that Davestractor quoted for the 110 is a tractor equipped a pin-on, standard 18" hoe bucket, standard front loader bucket (no cutting edge), no added hydraulics, etc.

    Add HD...

Buying Advice Re: Used JD 110 vs everything else

Deere no longer builds a 110. IMHO - if you're seriously considering a small, commercial grade TLB - look for a Kubota.

Guys in the business - with enough work - have gone to skid steers and a...

Re: E. Hydro Trans on 5000 and up?

I think the real, cutoff between a "utility" tractor and a "crop" tractor is; are you dragging heavy iron across a field spring and fall?

If the answer is yes.. You don't really want an eHydro...

    Re: John Deere 6105 D or 6115 D

That's what I remembered too - just 2 SCV's at the rear. And the pump flow is nearly identical to the higher Hp 5000 tractors.

X2 here on the longer wheelbase. Much better ride across the...

Buying Advice Re: Used JD 110 vs everything else

X2 here. Based on past trips over the scales, I am fairly confident that my 110 will just edge over the 8K mark with a full tank of fuel.

HD bucket with cutting edge, HD 20" quick-attach hoe...

LMAO!! There ya go, Dave! (If you haven't worked behind the wheel on a 110 and then worked on a CUT - I don't care WHICH ONE - you don't get it!)

Here's another point. The hoe on the 110 is...

Buying Advice Re: Used JD 110 vs everything else

I'm not sure exactly what people were doing or what it takes to crack the bell housing. Likely a combinations of factors - not just one, single thing.

Something that I'll admit to doing and fully...

Buying Advice Re: Used JD 110 vs everything else

You know... I've heard those concerns before. Maybe I've just been lucky - cause I've dug alot of stumps, roots and frozen ground with my 110.

But, I also try to "pay attention" when I'm working....

    Re: John Deere 6105 D or 6115 D

The 6D's are a whole lotta tractor for the money! And they'll outperform the 5M in every chore you want to tackle except movin' in and around tight quarters. That's why I could not really...

Buying Advice Re: Used JD 110 vs everything else

The two loaders are pretty much "spot on" on paper... But in use - the bouncy, flouncy 400CX won't hold a straight line when you're shaving that top inch or two of packed dirt. And sod, well you...

Buying Advice Re: Used JD 110 vs everything else

You know.. I've been having those same thoughts about my 110 for several years now... cab, 10-15 more Hp @pto, etc, etc.

So, I bought a JD4720 cab with 400CX loader this past year. Very nice,...

Maybe abit of background history... I made 3 trips down to the lower 48 states this past year. Rolled around the upper Midwest for about 2 months.

Do the outer spindles on the batwing flip up independently or both together? Of course, that's either one hyd SCV or two; depending on how the mower works. IIRC, 2 rear mount SCV's was all that was...

    Re: John Deere 6105 D or 6115 D

The biggest concern on the earlier 6D's was the limited gear selection transmission. Second biggest concern was the limited hydraulic options available.

    That's why they're still on dealer's front...

Re: Small Excavator... What to look at or avoid?

What dealer is close to you that is both capable and reliable? In the past 10 years I've rented Kubotas, Komatsu, Deere, and Bobcat.

They were all excellent work platforms. All pretty close in...
