Your work is cool.
I have wondered about a trailer jack before.
I was thinking a semi trailer landing gear and use the two speed box they have.
I was very happy with that truck.
Now I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to fix it or get rid of it.
My 97 GMC K3500 diesel died with +270K miles. I had to haul hay, so the V8 Explorer was pushed into service and it handled it like a champ. Its just 70 bales (50 Lbs each) and the trailer is just...
I run 90w gear oil in my 917. I may try 85/140w after I get the oil leaks sealed up.
Well I installed the new pump and filter and now my 3 point works great. The install was a bit of a pain to get everything lined up.
JJ, thanks for convincing me to add the filter. I appreciate...
My friend has a IHC 464 Tractor and the hydraulics will lift once or twice after first starting the tractor and then nothing (none of these work: power steering, 3pt and aux hydraulics). The...
Where do you get that slip hook from?
The return on my IH 424 is inside the cast iron reservoir where the three point valve is, so I don't think a return filter is a option.
I decided to order the 25 gal per minute / 25 micron filter.
These are the filters I am looking at.
3/4" NPT 9 GPM FA1112-25 SUCTION FILTER W/GAUGE 9 GPM at 25 microns
1-1/4" NPT 25 GPM ZINGA SUCTION FILTER 25 GPM at 25 microns
1-1/4" NPT 25 GPM 141...
JJ, what I'm understanding from your statement is to not to add another filter is that correct?
I bought a new hydraulic pump for my IH 424 tractor. IH did not put a filter on the 424 rather just a metal mesh strainer. I want to protect my new pump with a filter, but Surplus Center suction...
I did use Shoe not quarter round.
In the bathroom I wish we would have used the PVC shoe/quarter round rather than wood at least by the tub.
Yes it needs to be able to expand and contract.
I grew up in Montana and we buried lines deep like 6'.
I would NOT do less if you get below zero fahrenheit.
Pex may not break, but the fittings for pex do.
If you are asking me I want to use one to clip horse pastures and maybe even our lawn.
I'd buy a flex finish mower if they would cut say 7" high for pasture clipping.
The Woods 12' bushhog...
I have the Allure in Hickory in our basement and its great.
Why do you say prime the floor?
I was looking at all these 12' mowers and it looks like Landpride has the highest blade speed at 16,500 FPM.
How important is the blade speed?
Would a person notice the difference between...
What part number were the bearing you used?
Woods now has a 12' bushhog too.
I sharpen mine on the mower just set it on jack stands. It doesn't take to long that way.
What size are the square tubes that the Vibrashanks bolt too?
Ps nice job!
I love my 917.
Those knive are what mine has (three rows of 11) work great. They cut lawn grass, clip pastures and even do light bushhog type cutting.
I sharpen mine with a 4.5" angle grinder...
My 424 has a tee fitting at the flow control block and one of the tee ends there is a cap and I open it to bleed the air out with engine running. Make sure you cover cap with a rag and be ready to...
I sent off for a oil sample kit, so its a waiting game.
The fuel system on this IH 424 is gravity feed an therefore doesn't have a lift pump separate from the injection pump.
If it is #7 on 2nd pic then yes it needs to go to a injection pump shop.
What is mostly likely the cause of the engine oil level being over full (yes the oil looks diluted)?
1. Hydraulic pump seal leaking and allowing hydraulic oil into the engine.
2. Fuel system...
Would that still apply if one wanted to use the top link cylinder to dump a carry all?
Would the best thing in that case be to use a needle valve to have the flow when needed and be able to slow...
Can't help you with the leak, but could you tell me what adapter, part number and source you used to convert to a spin on filter?
Oil cooler can be a issue.
If one used a truck 4 speed or 5 speed the lowest ratio in 1st gear with a 4.10 rear axle the would be about 10 to one.
The setting that places the roller in its lowest position works good for lawn type cutting. I use check chains to setup for pasture clipping cutting at about 8". Yes the 917 is newer than the 907. ...
Jerry, I think that is a 917 rather than a 907. The floating lower link attachment points are a 917 feature (shown in your 1st pic).
PS I love my 917.
Dishpointer, what brand/kind of mower is that?
I want one.
Deer love soybeans or other type beans/peas aka black eye'd peas.
I think the oats will use the nitrogen.
I'm going to plant the soybeans in May. I'm trying for a double crop rotation, which is common in the South with wheat and soybeans. My father in law...
Well over the weekend I one bag of Urea 32 or 34 N on our oats.
I hope it was not too early.
What did you use to mix the concrete?
Ps the barn looks great.
Can you email them to me too.
Can you post which numbers from this PDF or picture that equal the parts that you are refereing to in your text?
See if the dealer will rent it to you.
About what time in the spring would be best apply the N?
I planted Oats this fall and a small bit of winter wheat should I apply some fertilizer this spring?
FYI I plan to seed soybeans into the standing oats/wheat in about May and then mow the...
Do you mean a grain auger for filliing a silo?
I have one like it with 33 cutting stations between 74 & 78" wide.
It cuts must of what a bushhog will and also will cut a yard just like a mower.
I have a IH 424 diesel tractor with about 35...
Thanks Mark with that info I found a link to a manuel, but it's not the same spreader as it drops the material out the side of the cone.
Here is the link for someone else.
I noticed that it maybe a older brand they once carried.
The Cosmo spreader look like the material exits the cone/hopper on the side, where as this spreader the material drops stright out the...
Does anyone have digital/PDF of Owners Manual for a Agri Supply Spreader 600?
I picked up a Dunham cultipacker it has one broken wheel and is missing one or two wheels, but for $100.00 I think it was an ok deal.
The broken wheel is missing one side of the axle spokes can I...
Does the tractor decals say its a Hydro?
Can you post some pictures of it?
Is this for personal use and how big of a yard are you cutting? I'm looking for a mower for our place cutting plus 3 acres.
Can you post a picture of both the old Ford blades and the new Mott blades?
Here is a copy, but its not great.
How long did the original wall last?
How long do you think this wall will last?
I have to build a couple retaining walls and your method looks like it might cost less.
Looks like you did a...
I like it nice work.
Can you post a drawing of your barns layout.
It looks great.
Did you buy or make the part that I circled in the attached pic.
If you bought it where at?
ps Cool build!!!
Which tracksaw did you get?
I'd love to have one.
Maybe he could build it to hookup both ways see attached pic.
Can you email me this manual?
I'll send you a private message through the forum with my email.
That port on the 424/444/354/364/384 tractors is for a single acting cylinder only IIRC.
Arc weld, are you saying that these knives use less horse power than the Ford ones I'm using?
My Ford Knives
I'd be interested in using less horse power.
My Ford 917 rotates the opposite of that and it does a great job of mowing. It does a go job of pulling up the grass the tractor tires pack down and then cutting it.
I have these knives.
The older ones with cable dumping didn't need a float valve to prevent the forks from digging into the dirt.
Are both the leading and trailing edges of those knives sharp?
If only one edge is sharp try rotating the PTO shaft by hand in the same direction that the tractor turns the PTO and watch to see if...
This is the type hay fork you need for loose hay. Make sure your valve for the bucket tipping has a float position. The back that the girl is leaning on is pushed forward with a cylinder to shove...
I wonder if this would break up horse/cow manure?
If it would, it would be easy and light to mount on the back of my flail mower and reduce trips over the pasture (compaction too).
I wish I could find a 12' finish mower that would cut up to 6" - 7" tall on the high end for clipping pastures does anyone know of one?
I'd like to see some picks of your "adjustable height wheels to keep it from cutting too low".
Don't know about the bolt issue.
If it's an extened cab now would be a great time to get a 98.5 or newer quad cab with 4 doors (the back two open opposite of the front two).
I'd bet the cab can come from a gas truck 1/2 ton - 1...
My 4 ton come-a-long pulled this, but no mud was involved.
WP_20130420_224412Z_2 - YouTube
I will say that I think this bent some parts on my come-a-long.
Here are some pics of that unit or another just about like it.
With disc mower headers it would really be a cutting machine.
Before my father in law passed he used a disc seeder one was a old drill mounted on a 22' disc and the other was a Gandy air seeder on a 28' disc. I don't have any pics of his setups, but here is...
Thanks cool mower.
That is a good looking setup!
So these would work better?
Surplus Center - 0.75 cu in CROSS HYD MOTOR 40MH07DACSC
Surplus Center - 1 cu in CROSS HYD MOTOR 40MH10DACSC
On another note I looked up the RPM for Briggs and...
If I use an old mower 42"deck it would be two, but if that was to much I could make a deck that used two smaller blades for a deck in the 30" to 36" range.
Ok anyone know of a way to determine what I'd need to make this work?
I have had to do it two times to get all the air out of mine and trying a 2nd time just costs a bit of hydraulic and maybe another bath if you get soaked.
I'm thinking about trying to make a boom/ditch/pond mower from a old 42" mower deck.
My tractor IH 424 only has about 8 GPM of Hydraulic flow would this motor be able to power a 42" mower deck?...
if you did all that work you likely got air in the hydraulic system.
The main pressure line from the pump going to a priority/flow control valve. Loosen the pressure line there with tractor...
Do you have a pic of how your mower is attached your tractor's PTO?
Where do you see that 1" PEX flows the same as 1" PVC?
This chart shows a big difference.
I like the idea of PEX, but having to go up in size and the cost of the fittings is making me...
Looking at that rear PTO output shaft has me wondering were these setup to allow two mower to be pulled in tandem?
Those were used lots when I was growing up in Montana. A hay fork (same forks were used to pickup loose unbaled hay) on a Farmhand F10 was very tipically used to pick up the stooks you could get 4...
Here is a few of the last load hauled.
Fat Albert is what my son named the log and Fat Albert didn't get on the trailer willingly.
Friday evening fun.
Ask me this winter and I'll tell you I've never burned it before. I do know my Father in law like it.
I was told that Pecan, Hickory and Walnut are all from the same family, if that is true it...
Here are somepics of our wood haul we got four loads so far and have the main trunk to cut down still.
Do you have a link to these Mott knives/blades?
I bought a 917 74" wide with the blades in the below pic that the and it cuts great whether in lawn grass or a pasture and it does great in stuff up...
Yes it has a insulating blanket and we wash everything, but whites on cold.
I was thinking that if I put a 300' coil of 3/4" or 1" PEX in the attic it would have a bit of warm water before the...
I want to try to decrease our cost to heat hot water, but I'm not ready to build/buy a solar hot water heater.
Would it be worth it to run my water supply line for my current hat water heater up...
A trailer jack would work too and if you got a two speed box from a semi trailer jack setup it would move fairly fast too.
ps great project! :)
I put these on all my vents to keep leaves and critters out they also fit on 1.5" and 2" PVC vents.
Shop Amerimax 3" Aluminum Downspout Strainer at Lowes.com
I'm not in the business, but I've rented a Mini-Excavator a couple of times. If you do get a Mini-Excavator get it with some options like a Thumb and aux hyd connections, so you can run a auger and...
I'm not going to put insluation just a radiant barrier.
