Thanks, for this and others' comments. Now I understand what I'm looking for.

I'm seeing a lot of negative user reviews, both quality and difficulty getting the intended output temperature. Seems...
  87. Gas on-demand Water Heater for one washing machine?

Somebody must have done this before. The washing machine is out in the barn an has its own gas (natural gas) water heater.

The water heater now leaks and needs to be replaced.

    There must be...
  88. Re: You don't have a high speed Internet connection??

That's a sound business principle but you don't always have an opportunity to take advantage of changing circumstances.

Times change, there's money to be made getting out ahead of the change to...
  89. Re: You don't have a high speed Internet connection??

I don't think copper will disappear but I think it is ATT's plan to sell off their copper plant to smaller firms, maybe ISP's etc, to get themselves out of the PUC-regulated side of communications.

  90. Re: You don't have a high speed Internet connection??

Hopefully somebody has more recent information but what I read several years ago was that ATT was committed to shut down all services delivered over copper wire for legal reasons.

    Traditional...

First thing you do with a stack - or tray - of punchcards is grab a felt pen and draw a diagonal line across the top edge of the deck. :p

One of the comments where I found it:

"That's not a welder project. Chicken wire and Bondo, man!"

Maybe woven cotton cover over tar, on each separate wire of a twisted pair? That's what I found under my 1943 house.

Re: Looking for high BTU propane stove (camp)

Yup, me too. The grate over the burner glows red and is wrinkled. But so far it hasn't sagged downward.

It sure makes camp dishwater in a hurry. Someday I'll use this for home canning too.

    I...

Old Coleman 3-burner gasoline camp stove plus the adapter to feed it from your propane bulk tank. This is half again hotter than a kitchen stove.

Re: Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Sorry, that's a photo I linked from some tool collector hobby board. It's the identical tool to what I have. I no longer have the box.

I was surprised to find that some on Ebay are listed as New...

That's the one. Or at least the best clone available today according to what I've read elsewhere. All the Amazon reviews are positive, the single uncomplimentary reviewer ('moderate quality') scored...

Re: Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Here's my favorite multitool. I have two sizes. Bought them new but I think they are no longer sold.

The 'crescent' wrench in my larger one is big enough to remove a hose from a propane bottle....

Re: Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Yes heavy. And top-heavy, very unlike an ordinary stepladder.

I have one but I use it only where I need that unique shape, not for general use. I'm not very tall and the thing is so topheavy that...
