    Re: Power Steering Hose Failure

Use an angle head wrench and you don't have to drop steer cyl.

Re: 1996 Massey Ferguson 253 will not start

You need at least 300psi. Do leak down test. If you had to soak cyl walls to get engine to turn over more than likely the rings are stuck.

Re: MF 399 ac needs freon

MF 399 could have been 12 or 134, depending on serial#. Could have been converted to 134, you should be able to tell by service ports or freon tester

Look on agcoparts.com. Log in as guest. That is very common bowl. Also get rubber washer for bottom and you might as well replace filter too, and your field repairman.

Re: MF135 hydraulic control lever stiff

That should get you close enough. The 3lb pull is just representing the amount of pull of the control valve, that has a 50 year old spring in it.

Re: MF135 hydraulic control lever stiff

It would not hurt at all to replace piston rings, but if you need piston you more than likely need the cyl also. Did it have the TS300 selector valve mounted on it. Those did not work all that well...

Re: MF135 hydraulic control lever stiff

It should say on the position. Agcopartsbook.com shows what the difference is visually. Just login as guest. With press control you might not be able to remove standpipe thru the top, just remove...

Re: MF135 hydraulic control lever stiff

I would not order any parts til after disassembly. There are a few orings in the quadrant assy. The master control spring is adjusted by first having no end play on the spring itself. It is removed...

Re: MF135 hydraulic control lever stiff

I have pulled covers with a helper, years ago. Use an engine hoist. Put a 7/16 eye bolt in front seat mont hole, that will get it close to being level as you lift it off. I use an adapter that I...

Re: MF135 hydraulic control lever stiff

The draft lever probably moves freely because its little roll pin is sheared because tube and rod are stuck.

Re: MF135 hydraulic control lever stiff

The lift cover must be off to remove quadrant assy from lift cover. That model is pretty easy to remove lift cover. No sense in new paint on a machine that doesn't work right. If it has mounted...

3 pt leaking down is either piston seal or control valve. To check piston seal remove right side cover (some oil will escape) With side cover removed lift 3 pt arms and turn off tractor. You can...

You might mean a segment belt. A waste of time is all that is. Just pull front pump and shaft and put a belt on it.

Re: MF135 hydraulic control lever stiff

Should not be "stiff", but that is a relative term. It is possible that draft and position tubes that go into right side of lift cover are stuck together. One is a hollow tube and the other is a...

Re: How do you suppose they did this?

Lift covers can crack due to stuck relief valve. Check condition of oil and relief valve before you raise 3 pt all the way up. If quadrant is out of adjustment and relief valve stuck you could...

Re: 231 Massey Ferguson power steering problem

You will need a plug to plug off line that you disconnect from cyl. If I remember right that has a short metal tube that is between cyl and steering hose. In that case it will be easier to find...
