What did the symbol look like?
I use MobilFluid 424 in all my tractors. Meets NH, JD, IH, Cat, etc., specs. $40/5 gallons from the local fuel supplier and it's really good stuff.
I have a 2007 TN70A 4x4, but it has a "T" handle on the left side of the drivers seat pedestal for the FWD. Your D model is a cab tractor, right?
OK, I just checked youtube and answered my...
Yeah, what Joe said.
I've included a link below that help explain the different types of Potassium fertilizer.
Realize now, that's 200# of Nitrogen and 155# of Potassium per acre. NOT just 355#...
I looked at one Thursday. It's nice, but I don't like the price. Same equipment as the 2016 I just bought last month, but with a sales price of about $15,000 more than I paid. They probably would...
As Oliver pointed out, the 5th wheel on a semi is much stronger and mounted directly to the frame.
I can pick up the entire hitch assembly that mounts in the bed of your pickup. The 5th wheel plate...
It's almost twice the weight of the tractor you show "on order," and WAY WAY more than your Bota. Another factor is that you won't have the electric brakes when hooked to a tractor. Even if it is...
Not mine. For $20, it can stay in my barn.
Good for you.
Thanks for all of the advice.
I just bought a new F-250 diesel last month. I hope it's half as good as the one I'm selling. '97 F-250 Crew Cab 7.3 diesel with 140,000 miles. Other than normal wear parts, (tires, filters,...
Rolled 149 more 4x5's last week. That's a total of 357 so far, from my 52 acres. Looks like I might get one more cutting. Our problem here has been getting enough days of sunshine in a row to get...
Got the PM. Thanks.
No net wrap. My baler is twine only.
When they hear the call of a pileated woodpecker, and ask, "What in the world is that?" Then you point it out to them and show them that it's the size of a crow, and they say, "NO WAY!" :D
I'm not sure, since I haven't taken it in. I've only talked to them on the phone. But, from what I can gather, it's the "auger style" roller (#5 in the picture) and the associated "knife."...
You probably have a local MF dealer. I don't. The closest MF dealer is nearly 400 miles away from me.
As I said, I'll only consider JD or Vermeer because that's what I can get dealer support for....
Thanks for the info. I may try that. The frustration factor on this thing is through the roof.
Still doesn't explain why a NEW baler would have the same problem, though.
I'm at a crossroad. I want input from those experienced with round balers, please.
Here's where I'm at.
I have a 457 that I bought used 6 years ago. I've always had some problem with hay...
Well, I had opportunity to use the Krone tedder last week. Heavy crop of hay. I got 149 rolls from 52 acres. It worked great. In fact, it was perfect.
No trade-in. $50k +TTL (almost $14k below MSRP)
I first looked at autotrader.com, then called or visited several dealerships within about a 200 mile radius. Prices were all over the place. One...
Well, I now have 1200 miles on the new truck. Power is still impressing me. Mileage is averaging around 18. Super quiet too. At highway speeds, all I can hear is the sound of the A/T...
I had to take what I could find. I would have loved to get the factory G/N - 5th wheel prep package, (and it would have saved me a days work) but I couldn't find it on a truck with everything else I...
Thanks for all the discussion.
Bought one earlier this week.
2016 F-250 Crew Cab Lariat FX4 Diesel.
Even though I got a really good price, (13K off MSRP) it's still the most I've ever spent on a...
I had my skid tanks filled Friday. (7/29) West-Central Louisiana
$1.94 for on road
$1.56 for off road
My thoughts exactly.
What year is your truck, and what are the specs? (other than the 3.55 rear) And, what are your driving habits?
The 6.7 should do a little better than that.
Yessir!!! But, it's only money, right?
Yeah, I'm hoping for a deeply discounted price tag. Something like they did on the '14 F-150's.
I kinda' like 'em the way they are now. ...
First of all, I would have to have more information to give you any useful advice, but I'll answer your questions in order, with what you gave me.
Will this be a daily driver, or just something to...
Thanks, I'll be sure to check those.
I bought the tedder last week, but haven't cut any hay yet. If the weather looks stable, I'll probably start cutting sometime this week.
I use Liquid Wrench Chain and Cable Lubricant. (spray can) You can find it at just about any auto parts store and even wallyworld.
I really can't tell the difference between the LW brand and the...
Thanks Crawler, that's the kind of information that I'm looking for.
It's been 14 years since I bought a new diesel truck and I'm kinda' out of the loop.
OK, Here's where I'm at. Thinking about buying a new '16 F-250 4x4 CC Diesel. (PLEASE, if you own something else, and try to convince me, you're wasting your breath) :D
I bleed blue. ;) I've been...
Yeah, me too.
I know mine doesn't have that problem, because I saw it working.
What did you find?
In my experience, it wasn't horses or zebras. It was goats.
The goats got under my gooseneck trailers and chewed the wires. I can't leave them in the pasture anymore.
Check for the obvious first.
1. are all the chains on the sprockets? (a broken chain will do that)
2. are the belts free of obstructions? (plugged my baler and stalled the engine once because the...
Yeah, like James said, we want pics. (my wife refers to it as "gun porn" :D )
SQ = "Squealer" series. (that's the economy model) 60 = 5' cutting width.
Don't know what the R-4 means, but a Bush-Hog dealer can tell you.
I would say that it's probably just a bad bearing.
However, I would suggest that you grease every time you use it. The spindles turn at a very high rate of speed, and that has a tendency to sling...
You'll be fine. I mow in reverse with my 6' Howse all the time.
The only caution I would mention to you is, that with 70HP, you will have to be careful in deep grass or you'll burn up the belts...
That's good to hear, because I bought one yesterday morning.
Found a local Krone dealer that had a 2009 model. (see OP) He has used it the past 6 years himself, and is the only owner. He had told...
I don't have the Range Officer. My 9mm 1911 is a Colt. But I do have a Springfield Armory "blackened stainless" in .45. (and I also have 4 SA XD pistols) Love it. It eats everything I feed it,...
I was wondering if anyone on here has experience with a Krone Tedder? I'm going to look at a used KW5.52T tomorrow. The guy who has it is a dealer and this is his personal machine.
I've never used...
Just be sure to explain to him that the better tractors are toward the cooler end of the light spectrum. You know, the green and blue ones. lol :D
Have you considered a 3PT hitch wheel rake. No PTO, no belts, and they'll last forever.
If you didn't live on the other side of the country, I have a good used one that I'd make you a deal on.
Going to look at a Krone 4 basket this week. Found a used one for $5k. It belongs to a dealer who uses it in his own hay fields. I'll let y'all know.
Thanks for reminding me of that.
I have to keep reminding myself of a principal that I figured out long ago:
Buy the best that you can afford, and keep it a long time. That beats...
Memory? What memory?
A buddy of mine recently told me that he, "Can't remember if I've lost my horse or just found a rope." :D
What he said.
I buy MobilFluid 424 from the fuel supplier here. I'm assuming there are fuel jobbers in the UK. If not Mobil, there should be something similar.
I'm shopping for a tedder, and I'd like to know what you think. (and other opinions as well)
Is the Ranch-Rite a GOOD Chinese copy of the Sitrex, or should I stay away and pay another $1000+ for...
I really do enjoy cutting wood. And, like Motown, I have a hydraulic splitter and a couple of good Stihl chainsaws that help. (MS 390 and 046 Magnum) But, the favorite part is burning the wood.
There are some really good Class V forged ball mounts rated at 10K and up. You won't find them at Harbor Freight or Walmart or AutoZone.
Check with a local RV dealer or order online.
Here's a link...
That's so you can smell the "money." :D
No sir, I paid about $12K more for the M than the E, but that was 5 years ago.
Depending on the options you choose, I'm guesstimating that would be the spread. For example, ordering an M with...
Glad to hear it. That may be the next goody that I get for my E.
BTW, a right hand door hardware kit is a little over $300 for your 5E series. Well worth the $$$. My son and I...
If you don't want to feel "slighted," just pony up the additional $12-15K for the M series. It comes with all the "goodies." :D
The E stands for Economy. I have a 5085M and a 5083E. Yes, the M...
Yep. And greasing regularly is better than not.
And good quality grease is better than the cheap stuff.
You want to use a grease that's rated for extreme pressure. (EP)
One that I've used for...
4 of them listed for sale on tractorhouse.com
Looks like a little smaller and lighter version of the JD TW that I have. Should be a good disk. It will be all your tractor can handle.
5030 gave good advice.
Twine tie. Stay away from the chains.
I would add that in my area, Vermeer, JD, and NH make up probably 90% of the round balers. All three are good machines.
You want an...
I've actually hauled a steer to the slaughter house on a flatbed before. But, he was dead. I had to shoot him after he escaped from a moving stock trailer!
BTW, we "hog-tied" his feet...
I think either one would work. I agree with what's already been said about the flail vs. finish, but I'm not sure that you have enough tractor to use either one.
Here's the link to Ranch Rite
Never heard of them, but that means nothing. The only tedder that I've ever used is Vermeer. I don't own one, but I've borrowed one several times, and that's the...
Well, I was wondering if it was time to start the 2016 Hay season thread, and I find out that I'm late to the party. (already 5 pages of posts)
I applied lime and fertilizer (chicken poop) in...
Bruce got it. DIRT. If the rod is on top, dirt builds up on the gland seal and it starts leaking sooner.
They've been turning cylinders upside-down on dump trailers for years. TruckPaper.com |...
OK, good for you.
Now, are you going to post the solution, or are you going to make everyone read their owner's manual?
Check that size.
Should be a 9.5x24
Plenty of those available.
Yep. 3 acre yard. My 2600 pulls a Howse 72" mower. (2WD and Ag tires)
No, it doesn't ruin my lawn. But, we have sandy soil and I live on a hill.
Soil type and moisture will probably be a...
I'm agreeing with the "herd."
Air 'em up. That size tire should handle it. IIRC, max air pressure should be around 30-35 PSI.
BTW, that's the same tire on the front of my TN70A and 5083e. They...
All of the hydraulics working correctly on the DW? (hydrostatic drive, trencher, etc)
The cold might be making matters worse, but it sounds like the pressure plate springs are just about worn out. I would be making preparations for a new clutch, if I were you.
I'm an Owner/Operator and I have a Garmin DESL GPS in my rig. They are often WRONG. Given that this road is probably a secondary "back street," my GPS probably wouldn't have "Truck information for...
I would think so. Seems like I remember seeing something about "ordinary pocket knives" being 4" or less in length closed.
But, any knife, no matter how small, could get you in trouble in some...
1. Had it's share of heavy pulling and loads. For years, it was the only tractor we had to handle round bales. (hay forks on rear 3PH) But, to be honest, I think both rear tires have been booted,...
There's a difference between a "driver" and a "steering wheel holder."
When I saw the first pic, I thought, "Such a shame to lose a good 18-wheeler like that.
Then I saw the second pic, and thought, "Oh, it's a Volvo." :D
This is why you don't pull with the 3PH
I have a 1981 Ford 2600 diesel with about 2000 hours on it. It's been a great tractor.
This is a list of the total repairs for the last 35 years:
1 fan belt.
1 rear wheel seal.
1 PTO seal.
You're a serious user.
You only have Stihl saws now.
You've tried, and "discarded" of the other brands available.
So, what's the question? :D Just messing with you.
Let me just...
You beat me to it. I was going to post that one. :D
You taught her how to shoot LAST!!! :D
I'm a Ford guy. I have 4 Ford pickups.
But, I'll believe the diesel F-150 when I actually see them on the dealer lots.
A buddy of mine, sold his wife's Expedition because the F-150 diesel was...
Been married a long time. Taught my wife to swim and taught her to shoot, too. Both are necessary skills.
We have two grown children. Taught both of them to shoot. Started on .22's. My daughter...
Now that's FUNNY! :D Probably not the right answer, but funny.
Just guessing here, but do you think that they've had more problems with the "E" series because they might be selling more of them?
Hi! and :welcome: to the forum.
Not familiar with the kit that you mentioned.
I do know that some run the 3rd function off the rear SCV. (rear remote)
Or, you can pay a bunch and have JD...
My children gave pair of Weather Tech mudflaps for the dually.
Of course, I had to find the ones I wanted on the web, order them, and pay for them myself. I'll probably even get to install them...
I walked that valley almost 25 years ago. I won't pretend to have the answers. Everyone is different.
Seems that it's a bittersweet time each year when the holiday rolls around....
Rossi is currently building them. (classified as a pistol, because of the short barrel)
Looks like I'm pulling the trigger on the 5083E.
My buddy gave me a price that I can't refuse.
Why are we so willing to spend other peoples money?
It's fun. (Roy already said that)
It doesn't cost us anything. :D
My cousin bought one of those in CAT I. It would fit one of his implements. That's it. He would probably sell it to you cheap. :D
What was the common name of the large loop lever actions, with a short butt stock and short barrel?
I don't think anyone has asked this question yet, but why not keep the open station tractor that you already have and just buy the new one with a cab? Then, you have the best of both worlds.
Something else you might want to consider, is what are the taxes in the states that you're looking at, and what is the rate.
For instance, Louisiana has very low property taxes, with a...
Hi, and :welcome: to the forums.
If you will post your question in the Haying section, you will likely get more answers from those who are using hay equipment on a regular basis.
That was my bad on the transmission. It's a 12-speed, not a 9. (and my 5M has a 16)
You've already received a lot of great advice. And, I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel here.
I just want to share MY experiences.
99% of the time, I carry a pair Ruger LCP's in a...
I hear you.
There's not really any "perfect" rakes. All have their advantages and disadvantages.
