If an eye gets lost it may occur to these folks why the guard is there in the first place.
Living with only one eye is no picnic, as my wife can attest too for the past 40 years.

Seems to me that some conversations with your elected county officials are a bit overdue. There will be more elections would be a fairly good opening point.
