    Danbury mint 8N tractor - 1:16 scale

This is new in the box. Discontinued by Danbury Mint; I bought several of these about 8 years ago and this is the last one I have left. If you know anything about die cast collectibles and tractors, you know that this is the "holy grail" of die cast 8N models. Metal, rubber tires, moving parts...

    Loading a riding mower

Don't want to drag around my 18' trailer I use for my tractor, and I just acquired a new riding mower. Also bought some arched ramps for loading it into the bed of a pickup. I've got some ideas, but does anyone have a sure-fire way to make loading and unloading it a one-man operation?

Self-propelled walk behind mowers - Which One?

I'm needing to replace my old Murray mower for the house in the city. Fairly small lot and I want to spend between $300 and $400. Have seen the various models offered at HD and Lowes - Troy-bilt, Toro, etc.. Recommendations? (I know - spend $600-$800 for a better one- LOL) Budget will be limited...

    Stumps - What to rent?

Without warning, the electric co-op decided to clear cut the areas under the powerline that runs along our 800' driveway. So I've now got about a third of an acre that was previously heavily wooded, now cleared but with stumps of every size. The bigger trees were obviously cut off with a chain...

    Just a small road hazard

Our driveway is a long, dirt road (sugar sand) through heavy woods with a couple of blind turns. Yesterday, I was in a rush to get to the local TSC before they closed, and as I rounded a turn I scared off a deer out of the road. But there was something else.... a rabbit maybe? Nope. A tiny...

    Hunters (neighbors) Trespassing - Dilemna

We have 18 acres of woods in the country. The property is about 1300 feet deep, and a little over 600 feet wide, with a little half acre "ear" at the front that cuts at an angle over to the road. The biggest bulk of my property lies behind a 5 acre parcel that was vacant until two years ago. I...

    D Magazine - Redemption

The pic of an old guy with a grey beard and red t-shirt, standing next to "the gate" caught my eye first. Hope he doesn't mind.....Just got the September issue of D Magazine, "the magazine of Dallas". A high quality local publication about Dallas and surrounding areas. A "philosopher who lives...

    Step bumper hitch

Has anyone used a drop-down box hitch attached to the step bumper of their truck? There are several manufacturers that make these; they attach to the existing holes on most step bumpers. The existing bumper hitch (by simply placing a hitchball through the hole) on my 2004 F-150 is rated at 500...

    Just Fiddlin'

Just Fiddlin\' I'm excited. Friday is the Old Fiddler's Contest and Reunion in Athens, TX. Fiddle players from all over the U.S. come annually to compete for the prize of best fiddler. A Texas tradition since 1932. It'll start early in the morning, and the music doesn't die down til around...

    Pulling electrical wire -

I've got a large wiring project coming up in about 10 days. Pulling 3-#4awg wires and 1-#6 a distance of about 600 feet partially through a winding wooded trail. With the advice of an electrician, I think I have the logistics of the project under control. How to pull it, etc. BUT.... NEC says...

    Pouring concrete underwater

I need to add a couple of piers to the front (shallow end) of my boat dock. The water at this location is only about 2 ft. deep. I plan on using treated 6" posts, set in concrete. The bottom is soft mucky sand. I have an old-fashioned "twister" clamshell posthole digger to use. I will probably...

    Boathouse Siding Dilemna

We recently had a boathouse built at our lake home; I am now putting up cedar siding. It is an open boathouse - no sides (more like a carport), but the overhead gable ends need siding. The problem facing me now is - how to put the gable siding on the "lake" end of the boathouse. I have built a...

    Debris Guard for Mower Deck

I bought a cheap lawn tractor - an MTD 17.5 HP, 42" deck, hydro trans. It has performed great for the last two years. The only real pain is having to clean the front of the mower deck after every mowing. We have sandy soil, and many of the areas we mow with it are just weeds rather than lawn...

Could get in literally over my head on this one

I haven't yet figured out a way to get my tractor close enough to dig the holes, but do plan on dragging the big posts down to the lake with it for my BOATHOUSE project. I got this wild hair after my bids were coming in at around $12,000 and the materials will only cost me about $3,000. Has...

    Vinyl Fences

Has anybody had any luck with vinyl split-rail fencing for use in a horse pasture? My wife wants a white fence for the front of our property. I don't want to paint it, so vinyl seems like the natural choice. Part of this front fence will be the front of a proposed pasture where we will keep some...

    L3000DT

My dealer has recommended the L3000DT for my needs. I have 18 acres, heavily wooded, but will hire a dozer to clear about 5 acres for a pasture. I will be cleaning up afterwards with a rear blade and loader, plus I want to clear some other areas of saplings, brush, etc. Lots of dirt (sand) from...

    Purchase advice

Hi Guys - I am new to this board and I have only been a tractor owner for about a year, but I have got the fever bad. Right now, I have an old Ford 8N and Ford 850 plus my lawn tractor, but I really do want a compact with FEL. My budget will be around $8,000, so I am sure a new one is pretty...
