Bx24 - drive forward/reverse pedal safety switch location

Hi y'all Got a 12yo bx24. The safety switch gremlins have been pestering me the last few years. Under-seat safety switch loose wires, pto-engagement switch full of crude, etc... Seem to have all those mastered up to now but the forward/reverse safety switch is my current torture. Jiggling the...

Older bx24 with over 1000 hours. Great machine. Kept in garage. Tried starting after 5 days off. Turn key, glow light comes on for about 4 seconds, then goes off. No noise, no electrical activity when turning key. Checked battery with voltmeter - has charge. Starter dead?

    Leaking hydraulics on wood splitter

I have a Wallenstien type model wood splitter that is fairly new. It is the type with oil stored in the body cavity that also acts as the body part that holds the wheels. The outlet from this axel/body/reservoir is connected to the oil filter, which leads off to other hydraulics on the splitter...

Backhoe  BX24 backhoe pivot move over trench

Has anybody done the backhoe pivot move over a trench with a BX24? This a move in which the backhoe is used to raise the back wheels off the ground, and, using the FEL as a pivot point, move the raised back wheels over a trench. Once the lower BH pivot point is over the trench then the...

    Stupid BX24/Trailer question

Just got a used 10,000lbs GVWR tailer for hauling wood/hay/tractors. Trailer load can go up to around 7500lbs and I've got it attached to a GMC 2500HD with tow package that can tow 10,000lbs, so all weight restriction bases are covered. Drawbar and hitch are rated for 12,000lbs. So, I tried...

    BX24 digging postholes

The first one was fun, but after about 75 I thought I'd share the pleasure... Here's a video of my BX24 digging out a posthole using a 12inch auger. The soil is mostly heavy clay/loam. I hit just a couple of rocks so far. The little beast does pretty good. YouTube - bx24 posthole Also included...

    BX24 jacking to change tire

I have a slow leak on a back tire on my BX24. What's the best way to lift this tractor to get the back wheel off? Where should a jack be applied to?

Tractor for moving and stacking big round hay bales

I'm looking for a tractor for moving and stacking big round hay bales (4x5). Would something like a Massey 165 be heavy enough to handle and stack 2 to 3 high using bale spears?

help! Stables construction - doorway header details

I'm stuck on a construction detail... I'm build a single-story stick framed stable - I've got the walls up (2x6) and am waiting for the roof trusses to be delivered. There are two doorways; one at each end. They are 10 feet wide and I was intending on equipping each with 2 5-foot sliding doors...

bx24 left 4x4 round hay bales

This may have been discussed before but searching on "bx24 hay bale" didn't turn up anything. Assuming I can find bale spears for my BX24 FEL, can this little beast pick up 4x4 or 4x5 round bales and move them from point A to point B? Not expecting to stack bales much - just pick them off a...

Snow  Stuck in the snow, in a ditch

Tried helping out the neighbour by removing the plowed snowbank from his driveway with my BX24. Unfortunately, I didn't quite judge where his ditch was and in went the front right wheel and up went the rear left wheel. Got the tow-strap out and pulled the tractor out with my Honda CRV. I have...

Backhoe put away for the winter

Thanks to the fellow who supplied the photo of his backhow cart (sorry, forgot who it was). Built one and put away the backhoe for the winter. This cart is 3' by 4'. Also included a pic of the Bro-tek thumb in action, removing a log from the path of my ditch... Now only snow to move.

    BX24 50 Hr service question

I'm in the middle of doing my 50hr service on my BX24 (actual at 65hr... been busy). Everything is going well but I do have a few questions about replacing the gas line filters. There are 2 of these, one next to the carburator and the other underneath the body. I replaced the one next to the...

    Broken grease fittings in pins

I recently broke a grease fitting in a pin on my BX24. The grease fitting snapped off leaving part of the grease niplpe thread screwed into the pin. Took the pin to the dealer and the mechanic quickly extracted the broken piece and replaced it with a new grease fitting. Unfortunately I didn't...

    Riding Big-Boy's big brother

I recently posted this picture: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/projects/86010d1190142655-new-horse-stable-001-baby-big-boy.jpg The little orange speck in the foreground is mine. Today the excavators came in for the backfill of my stable. They brought in something bigger (the...

BX24 - this just had to happen

Yesterday, I'm trying to reattach my FEL to the BX24 - the FEL is in the garage (the BH is behind it - next one to get re-attached). I put the BX into low gear and creep up to the FEL from outside the garage - then the motor sputters. I press the HST a bit harder - front wheels go up! Try again...

    Field drainage with BX24

I'm trying to figure out how to improve drainage of about 60 acres of clay-based hayfield - hopefully with my BX24. Would the Bro-tek ripper and trencher attachment create a gully of some sorts that can at least drain the surface water off? What are people here doing about hayfield drainage?

    BX24 - re-trenching

I've been digging a couple of trenches with Mighty-Mite (my bx24) and now these trenches are close to meeting. Unfortunately, one of the trenchs is not deep enough and I need to dig out another foot or so over about 30 feet. The trench is as wide as the BX BH bucket - is it safe to stradle this...

    A new horse stable

Just started the foundations for an 8-box horse stable. This will be a monitor-style (raised center isle), hopefully finished and fenced in for next summer. Got contractors with Big-Boys to excavate and put in a road - my baby BX can't cope with this amount of earth moving - 36x48 foot...

    BX24 MMM mover re-attach problem

I'm having problems re-attaching my 54" MMM to my BX24. This is the first time re-attaching so I must be missing something. I get the PTO on with no problem. My problem is getting the rear links attached - I can get one on but not the other, or vice-versa. Looking at the links a little closer...

    BX24 PTO speed

Yet another newbi question: Is the PTO speed on my BX24 dependant on the trottle/RPM level? I know the rear PTO is rated at 540rpm and the mid at somewhere around 1500-2000(?). Also, some tractors seem to have a way to vary the pto speed according to the implement... Is this the trottle? Thanks.
