Anyone looking at a Kubota 080...word of advice

The Kubota is awesome, but i have found one major flaw that you need to be aware of........ The air filter box is neetly located in the upper right corner, high and dry.......but.........the air inlet tube is routed to the left side, and down below the condensers. IF YOU GET INTO ANY SITUATION...

    Shop Heaters?

I have been looking at Shop heaters, and I think I have made up my mind, but I would like a few opinions. Forced air or Infrared? Shop is 30 x 40 with 20' ceilings. I only want to heat it when we are there, so I am leaning towards infrared, Propane fired. Doesn't get all that cold here in...

    Mulching SLOOOWWW anyone?

The mulching business around here seems to have dried up. The big boys and their big toys around here have started working for $300 and $400 per acre, which is KILLING me. Are the rest of you staying pretty busy or what? I can't afford to work for that, so I can't compete with them. It used to...

    Low flow Gyro head?

Do any of you have any knowledge on the Low Flow Gyrotrack head? I am thinking of purchasing one to put on a Tak TL140, but I have not seen one run yet. I think my LAST ASV is out of here, and I can't buy another Supertrak just yet. (Too slow, wife says no....) If this thing works well on 5"...

    New tak pictures.

Supertrack Tak150 with my Modified Loftness head, cutting a 12" Gum. This tree took about as long to grind as it would have normally taken me to grind a 6" gum with carbide teeth. This head will be available soon as the "Quick Axe" from loftness, so I am told.

    New modified Loftness

I have wanted a sharp knife cutter for a while. Even though I love it, I can't afford a Cimaf (Yet), so I had to make something else happen. Working with Loftness, I bought a Timber Axe rotor, and put it in a G1 Carbide cutter frame. For those of you who know anything about the Timber Axe and...

    Pricing for mulching?

Tell me how most of you are pricing for mulching, and what kind of production are you getting (Be specific about machines, heads and density please). I think there must be a lot of diversity in how this is done. I started off running $125 per hour for my ASV's with Loftness carbides. Then...

Not the right place, but tired of looking..

This should go on a different site altogether, but I am tired of searching. How much weight can you tow with a axle GMC6500 Dump truck? I know that you can buy GCW and put any weight plate that you want to on this truck, but can I tow 15 tons? 3116 Cat with a 5 speed plus low. I am thinking...

I think it is time for our own mulching forum

Guy's, I think it is time to start a mulching forum. We pick up some pretty good numbers from people just happenning upon this section of tractorbynet.com and I think a mulching forum could stand up on its own. I am not voluntering, but I think it would be a good thing.

    New Loftness Head coming soon...

Loftness is making an old head new again. Those of you that have used or have seen a Timber Axe used..... Get ready for this. Loftness is going to offer a Timber Axe that spins backwards! Much like a Cimaf or a Tomax. Prelim tests seem to show that it is bad. I should have one soon, so I will...

    GPS for mulchers

I am in the market to add a sub-meter GPS to my equipment, mainly for survey jobs. Does anyone have any experience with Topcon or Trimble, or any other Sub meter GPS equipment? I have done a lot of homework on the products available, and looks like I am about to drop some serious money....

    demo'd a CAT 297c today

I had the oportunity to run a CAT 297c today with a Fecon on it. Can't say that I love the fecon, but the CAT machine was pretty nice. Pressurized cab, 33gpm @ 4100 psi (That's about 12 more Hydraulic HP than an ASV RC100). Tommorow I will be switching the motor on my Loftness to a # 7 motor and...

    Mulching with Kubota 080

As I write this post, I am still recovering from the day- I have been running a Kubota 080 for about 8 months now with a Rockhound 30 Extreme with missgivings if I had made the right decision. It is productive in 2.5" to maybe 3" material at best. Great for cleaning out ditch banks and LIGHT...
