    Robin Suburu engine mount bolts

I used Ponytug's solution. I cut the piece out of the rear of the tub between the two rear lower vents. That allowed me to get my fat hands in there and get the nuts started. I really doubt the structural strength will be lessened enough to notice. I just thought that project was the worst I've...

    Robin Suburu engine mount bolts

That was a funny, but I can tell you I was at the brink of #4 and seriously considering it. Needless to say I didn't have much nice to say to the person who designed that damn engine from hell into the PT.

    Robin Suburu engine mount bolts

How often would I need it? Let me see. I have had to replace the fuel pump, the voltage regulator which necessitated lifting the motor, and of course numerous oil changes which require getting to the supremely convenient oil filter. So, I really think the hatches might be slightly handy.

    Robin Suburu engine mount bolts

I finally decided those nuts were NOT going on without something changing. So, I got out my trusty grinder and cut the rung out from between the two lower vents in the rear of the tub. Now I can reach in and simply start the nuts onto the bolts. I really don't think there will be a real loss of...

Sounds like it might just work. Thanks.

    Robin Suburu engine mount bolts

I used a piece of pipe to lengthen the wrench which jammed up against the tub. That worked, but getting the little buggers re-threaded onto the rear bolts is almost impossible. Not sure how I'm going to do that. Taking them off with a wrench was not bad at all once they were loose, but putting...

    Robin Suburu engine mount bolts

A piece of pipe to lengthen the wrench, or a longer wrench if I can find one was my thought. That would allow the pipe/wrench to jam up against the tub and hold the nut while the impact turned the bolt from underneath. It may be one of those 'sounds good when you say it fast' things but I have...

    Robin Suburu engine mount bolts

I can get a wrench on the nuts but I can't turn either the nuts nor the bolts when I have them both captured, at least with just wrenches. I'm sure I can turn the bolts with an impact, but I doubt I could hold the nuts with my 9/16 wrench without anything to mechanically brace it. And I sure...

    Robin Suburu engine mount bolts

Well I'm stumped. I need to replace my voltage regulator. Terry said no problem, just lift the engine a bit so it's exposed. I got the PT staged in the right place right below my chain hoist, removed the heat shield, hooked up the chains, and tried to remove the engine bolts. I don't know what...

Flail Mower  BEFCO flail mower blades

Could BEFCO or anyone else tell me where I can purchase blades for my BEFCO H-40 flail mower? My local dealer wants $6-8 each which seems very high to me for what amounts to a bent piece of sheet metal, especially since there are so many on my 72" mower. These blades do not like hitting even a...

    Any experience with Woods RM-990?

It looks to me like a Woods RM-990 would be perfect for my fields which are native grass and weeds. I currently am using a BEFCO H-40, 72" flail mower. It is doing a good job but it looks like it is really working hard, and the blades are very expensive and hard to sharpen. It is two years old...

    Trencher maintenance

I need some help from anyone owning the 3' trencher for their 425, who attended the training in Tazewell. I've owned my trencher for almost 3 years and it has done some very serious work. I'm having trouble now in that it appears to be digging slightly crooked. By crooked I mean the ditch is...

    Guage wiring

Can someone either talk me through the wiring for the fuel gauge or post the schematic of it's wiring? My fuel gauge quit awhile back. Not completely, very intermittently it will decide to work but only for a few seconds. The Temp works fine. I'm almost sure the fuel gauge/sender is losing...

    Need suggestions on top cylinder

I need some suggestions. I just bought a new Kubota 4330HSTC with Kubota supplied TnT. When I reinstalled my Pat's EZ change onto the Kubota it became apparant that the top cylinder is too short to allow the box blade to tip over enough to allow smoothing with the rear blade. The dealer is...

    Essex RTV cab

I thought I'd post a picture of the Essex Mfg cab on my RTV. This is cab s/n 2, their first one out the door. It's very nice, the glass w/s lifts on gas cylinders, the top is padded, and radio and wiper wiring is already in place. The back window slides open both directions. I will post pictures...

    My new toys

Just thought I'd share a view of my two new toys. The RTV was purchased last summer. That is Essex Mfg cab s/n 2. I will get the first set of doors when they are ready. I know I'm ready now! The L4330HSTC was delivered last week. That's an ATI 4n1 bucket, and I have Kubota TnT installed also...

    Fossi valve on L4330

I'm buying a new L4330 HSTC equippted with an ATI 4n1 bucket. When discussing an electric over hydraulic valve to control the bucket jaw, my salesman suggested a valve made by Fossi. I'd never heard of them but he assured me the dealership had used them a lot. I saw the tractor for the first...

    RTV Front CV joint failure

Last week my wife and I were crusing about the property. I stopped to examine something near a shallow smooth ditch, really just a depression about 6-8" deep. When I started up again I made a left turn into the ditch. When I got to the bottom the left front wheel made a rather loud noise and...

    RTV hard cab

Has anyone been able to buy a hard cab for their RTV? For that matter even seen one for sale? My dealer, Zimmerer, has said cab's now won't be available until June! &^%$(*&. I would already have an RTV if they'd had the advertised accessories available. If I have to wait until June I will...

    L3430 capabilities

I'm looking at buying a new Grand L with cab. The 4330 may be a little heavy on the budget so I was looking at a L3430HSTC. What I need to know is if a 3430 will safely carry and run a Bush Hog SQ84. That's the heaviest attachment I have. Paperwork says 25-50 hp, weight 720 lbs. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Power Trac and the law

I've mentioned this briefly in the past by I'd like some others opinions. I'm very concerned about PT's lack of documentation, especially on the attachments. I got a fairly decent book with the tractor but none of my attachments came with so much as a word of instruction or "BE CAREFUL", etc. In...

    Mowing  60" Mower blades

60\" Mower blades I found and ordered blades from MowProducts.com for $7.58 ea. They are 20 3/4" long, 7/16" center hole, 2 1/2" wide, and .240" thick. These appear much heavier duty than the PT blades, which we trash within 30-45 days. The sand eats away the rear raised portion of the blades...

    Kohler CH-25 throttle

Has anyone else had a problem with the throttle control on the PT-425? It's definately a Kohler problem. The PT is the third of these engines I've had (others were on two Kees ZT mowers) All three have had sticky throttles. All machines cleaned thoroughly after each use. I can't seem to...

Mowing  Which finish mower to buy???

Can you guys help me fill in some of the blanks. I'm needing a finish mower to mow mostly pasture type land with a TC-40D. We've been using the Bush Hog for 5+ years and I think it's time to mow to a finer level. I've been looking at flail mower and rotary type finish mowers. Specifically, the...

    Kohler Heavy Duty Air Cleaner

Has anyone tried to connect a Kohler HD air cleaner to the PT425? I have one on my commercial ZTR mower which also has the 25 hp. Kohler engine. It is great! It's really a Donaldson type like is used on most diesel equipment with the plumbing to connect to the Kohler. I'd really like to put one...

    Disaster down below

I have suffered a small disaster. My 425 has broken the lower front mount for the ball bushing, the main connection from the front to the rear section. This happened while mowing a berm, around some trees, letting the PT swivel and articulate and generally 'do it's thing'. Just before it broke...
