Can hooking up the backhoe be a one person job

I will add to the discussion that I have my backhoe on dollies that allow me to shift it around slightly once the tractor is in close position. I think it is probably easier to get it on by myself than if I had a "helper."

Spreader  Landpride FSP500, Gearmore PL180, or neither spreader?

Broadcast spreader advice and comments, please. The local (Hawaii) dealers carry two lines of broadcast spreaders -- Landpride and Gearmore -- and generally bring in only the relatively small models. The Landpride costs about 10% more than the Gearmore. But I have some doubts about the ability...

    Noise level of Kubota RTV-X900

I am to the point that I can justify buying a utility vehicle and am pretty well settled on the Kubota RTV-X900. My main question is how noisy are these in operation? The only dealer around does not stock these so I cannot hear for myself, and I found no discussions of this. I cannot run my...

    Kohler Kill Circuit

I am troubleshooting problems with my Scag powered by a Kohler 27 hp CH740 engine. The general thread for my struggles is at http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/general-lawn-garden/218393-scag-kohler-engine-has-me.html, but there is a specific issue I have run into involving the engine's kill...

Scag / Kohler engine has me stumped

I have a Scag Turf Tiger ZTR with the 27 h.p. Kohler CH740 engine that has died and defies troubleshooting. The grass is growing and I am desperate for suggestions. The Scag is 6 years old, 560 hours, and has been completely reliable up until now. 3 days ago I had just started mowing, and...

    Spring for PTO quick disconnect

I have a Greenline EM5000 post hole digger. The spring in the PTO quick disconnect is badly corroded and needs to be replaced. The manufacturer (Benko Products acquired the line) would be glad to sell an entire PTO shaft, but not the spring nor the quick disconnect yoke by itself, but the cost...

Backhoe  Woods BH7500 problem after replacing port relief valve

My Woods BH7500 backhoe developed a leak in one of the port relief valves. So I replaced the valve. To get access to the valve required temporarily removing several of the hydraulic hoses. The first time I tried to use the BH after replacing the valve, the boom would not pivot to the left...

Any secrets for removing Scag blades?

I have a Scag Turf Tiger and have been unable to remove the mower blades. The owner's manual says nuts are torqued to 75 ft. lb. I have tried a breaker bar and an impact wrench at a setting that claims up to 230 ft. lb., and have been unable to budge nuts at top or bolts at bottom of any of...

Any suggestions for Woods BH parts dealer?

I have a leaky port relief valve on my Woods BH7500 backhoe. I am looking for a dealer who is likely to have a good price. Searches have produced few hits. The best online price I have found so far is from Messicks, but it still was more than I hoped to pay.

    2- cycle multi-ratio oil

Pro-Mix 2-Cycle engine oil claims that when mixed at a 50:1 ratio it "Safely replaces all mix ratios" from 50:1 to 16:1. Does anyone have experience with this product in equipment calling for a mix other than 50:1? My brush cutter calls for 50:1 and chain saw says 40:1; it would be...

Forks  Pallet Mover vs. Pallet Forks?

The boss says she wants to be able to move pallets, building materials, and a whole lotta what-not. Since she insists, it seems that we must get something to do this. Alternatives which present themselves are a KingKutter pallet mover for the 3PH, in stock locally for $240, or clamp-on pallet...

    Backhoe  Backhoe quandary

I’m very close to making the commitment to a long term relationship, but I need advice. Either would probably make me happy. But is either really right for the long haul, or should I just pay by the hour as the need arises from time to time? The tractor will be a Kubota B7800. Depending on...

    B7800 mid-PTO

As a soon-to-buy guy, this question is whether there is any reason to spend the little bit more money to get a B7800 with a mid-PTO if one will never use a MMM? Everthing I currently plan to do with the tractor will be accomplished with FEL, backhoe, bush hog, box scraper, and post hole...
