I am looking to buy the type of 3PH post driver shown in the photo below, but hopefully a little smaller. I am getting a lot of conflicting advice as to whether a Massey Ferguson 35 is big and heavy enough to run one, and if its hydraulics are up to it. has anyone got such a machine on a small tractor, or even on the same model? If so, what weight is it, and how much flow and at what pressure are the ram requirements? I see them on Ebay, but they fetch a very good price, so I need to be sure my tractor is up to operating one, and have details of it to compare to what's for sale. thanks.

I run a Worksaver driver on a NH TC25D. The hydraulic GPM determines how fast the ram raises. It drops by dumping all the fluid back into the sump. So, if the GPM of your tractor is close, you'll be fine.

The driver rests on the ground when in use, so the weight of the tractor isn't all that important.

Thanks for the replies so far, please keep them coming. I am in the UK, where these things seem to fetch much higher relative prices! :(

I have a 1964 MF-135 diesel and checked out post drivers for this tractor. The hydraulics can provide only about 4.5 gpm at 1500 psi and 2000 engine rpm.

Shaver makes a small PHD for a 3pt hitch that operates at 3-4 gpm at 1500 psi
