My B7800 shuts down when i get off the Tractor. I can stand up and not be on the seat and it will run but when i get off it shuts down and wont start unless i play with the hydrostatic pedal. When i move it back and forth i will hear something click and then it will start. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it.

Are you in Neutral when you get off the tractor?

Yes. I think that is where the problem is there must be a switch of some sort in the transmission

I can get off my BX 23 in or out of gear and it keeps on running.
Both the BX1500s have to be out of gear or they will stop when I get off.

I can get on or off my B7800, in gear, and it will keep running. I have on occasion (I know it is not the safest thing to do) used my hand to push the go pedal when on the ground to move the tractor a foot or so in one direction.

I am also able to get off the tractor with the PTO engaged and the tractor does not shut down.....from what I read it seems that it should shut down unless I quickley lift the seat up.

Piper, Most likely its the hydrostatic pedal switch located on the rear of the pedal assembly... It's out of adjustment.

This is a common thread here on TBN...if the pedal is in any other position other than neutral and the seat switch is open (ie your not in it) the tractor shuts down as a safety over ride so you don't get run over...

When you rock the pedals to reastart the tractor and hear the click, that is the switch closing again turning off the safety interlock and allowing you to restart the tractor...

I bet it only a coincidence that it occurs when you get off the tractor and not when you stand up. Should shut down in both cases. Sometimes it can be intermittant.

It is very annoying as the switch is in a tough area to get to and adjust... if you look down the right side of your seat, there should be some wires running down to the pedals, and the switch is at the end...

I had the same problem on my 7510 and rather than adjust the switch I took the easy route as many others have and by passed the interlock by jumping the two wire together. this is also a great way to "test" the problem. stuff a common wire into the white connector on both sides and I'll bet your problem goes away...

Good luck

That's right. It should shut off if you get off the tractor with the PTO engaged. It's a great safety feature as you shouldn't be anywhere near spinning PTO gear and shafts. Sometimes I forget my snowblower is still engaged when I get off my B7800:eek:

I JUST went through this. There are several kill switches all in a series...PTO levers, clutch, two under the seat, and the one on the hydrostat rocker pedal. That's the one you need to adjust. Very difficult to get a wrench on...I finally had my dealer do it. It is a degenerative problem--gets worse until it's very hard to find the neutral point. One way is to hold the switch in the ON position and rock the pedal til it starts.
My switch had come out of alignment and needed to be reset about an eighth of an inch. No probs now.
If you look underneath the deck, to the rear of the pedal, you will see a little cylinder with a plunger in front and two wires coming out towards the rear. That's the switch. The plunger will be depressed ONLY when the pedal is in the neutral position. Again, tough to access...
Hope this helps.

Thank you Firefighter for pointing me in the right direction. What is it that i need to adjust? Is it the piece with the rubber boot or the piece that sits right behind that one?

I removed the piece with the rubber boot to gain access to the rod behind it with two nuts on the end and was going to attempt to adjust that but i decided to wait until i do that to get word from someone on this forum as to what needs to be adjusted. After putting the piece with the boot back on the the tractor now starts, go figure but i am willing to bet it will happpen again. Does anyone know what needs to be adjusted?
