You must travel the roads around here an lot. Thanks for all your feedback. You have it right on all accounts above WRT my test drive. I noticed a few things when I was there that impressed me with the dealer, namely how they were taking care of their customers. Overall they seemed very customer oriented. I don't know how good a price quote I got from them but if its anywhere near reasonable customer service will win me over anytime.

I emailed the salesman there yesterday with a question but haven't heard back yet. Maybe they are closed on Monday? There's always the dealer in Rural Retreat too.
There's also a MF dealer in Rocky Mount. I live in Elliston and work out of Roanoke, but do travel up 460 to Rich Creek and down 81 to Dublin frequently. There's also a NH dealer in Meadows of Dan just East of the Parkway.

Semipro, I don't know what you mean by "reversable tires". If you're asking if they can be turned for a wider base, I would say no, not on the 1531. However, I imagine you could purchase some spacers to get a wider wheel base. Also, you mentioned stability between the 1531 and the 1533, I would say the 1533 is a more stable tractor than the 1531 because it is heavier and has a larger frame. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my 1531 but I believe the 1533 would be the tractor you want if you're basing your decision on stability. Best of luck to you on your decision.

3dayfunk,
Yeah, I was thinking about stability. I believe that you can reverse the tires on the 1533 to move them a bit wider. Thaniks.

An update:

Things have been tough at work and I haven't been willing to drop the money on the tractor I want (for now a MF 1531) despite great financing options.

However, my 50th birthday approaches and both my sons will be off at college next year so I've got land to work, a new wood stove to feed, projects to build, no sons around to help me and I think I'm having a mid-life crisis. I'm darn near certain a shiny red tractor with an FEL and nice blade would be just the thing to see me through the half century. Life is too short not to live it the way you want to after all right?

I called the dealer today and plan to visit them Saturday for some more test rides and a heart to heart talk with the salesman.

Hopefully the next time you hear from me I'll be bragging and passing around pictures. :)
