A while back, there were a few refeerences to happy customers of Markem (Markum ?) fabriacting for the source of tooth bars. I can't find any listing in the archives or with a forum search. Does anyone have that info? I am now in the market for a FEL tooth bar. A tractor shop about anhour away has a 54" one that I would have to shorten and re-weld (myself) for $285, plus tax. Is this currentlty a good deal or should I persue someone like Markem?
Thanks,
Steve

Steve -

I got a 48" Markham TB last month - and although our rather wet spring has delayed completion of a landscaping project - the toothbar has made a noticable impact on digging out the rocks of what passes for "soil" here in New England. :D

Here is Markham's website:

http://www.markhamwelding.com/skid-steer-attachments/tooth-bar.html

(they just updated their website also, I see....)

I paid @ $210 delivered - very nice people - I think I spoke with Melissa - and the TB is very well built. Comes complete with mounting bolts and 1/2" plate "washers" to prevent tear-out on the sides of the bucket.

Hope that helps,

Dan

Dan,
Thank you for your reply and assistance. Last Tuesday, I called Markham Welding in NC and spoke with Melissa. They couldn't have been any nicer or more helpful.

Yesterday (Fri, my FEL tooth bar arrived here in PA by UPS for a total cost of $211. With time and materials, I don't think I could have made one myself as nice for the cost. I haven't mounted it yet, but the workmanship is superior and I highly recommend Markham based upon my experience!

To summarize, great ppl and product at Markham!
regards,
Steve

Steve -

Glad you took my recommendation to heart - I had the same easy ordering experience and am quite impressed with the quality of the TB. I'd be very surprised if I ever find a way to hurt it!

Another observation: with the TB attached - the capacity of the FEL bucket seems to be increased - as long as you are picking up branches / roots / debris in general - the extra 6-8" of the teeth is just enough to keep more of the load in the bucket where it belongs! (of course this doesn't help for loose loads like sand / pea gravel etc.)

Enjoy & glad the info helped! :D
