| Welcome to TBN. If you type "parking brake adjustment" into the TBN search, it will bring up a lot of hits for same type question. Scroll down through the list and see if you see your tractor listed. Good luck.

| Hi Jim, Thank you kindly for the reply. The lever at my right foot when pushed all the way forward, locked in, does not hold the tractor from rolling. The brakes are fine. I guess I just need to know how to adjust the thing. I am in the middle of building a 1,200 foot office here plus my real job, and I don't have time to fiddle around. I was hoping someone knew exactly what to do so I can get right at it and make it safe again for my wife. I hope I am not infringing or asking to much. My candle is burnt down pretty low! Best Regards, Steve |

Many of us have had some problems with the toothed lever engaging and holding the pawl, but that takes some modification to repair if it won't hold the brake engaged. If you were going to do an adjustment, you would have to crawl under the tractor and spend the same amount of time it would take to look and see what I'm talking about. If you don't have time to do that, then you need a service call.

| Sounds like he may need to replace the brake pads..he said his wife drove it for 2 weeks with the brakes applied.

My hand lever on my TC45D will stick from time to time if pulled up when the brakes are not engaged. I think that is what has happened to Steve and his wife, or something similar. The only adjustment we have on our parking brakes is the light switch that controls the parking brake light and sends a signal to the operator present safety system. If you search for "parking brake adjustment" you will probably find many instances of people talking about their light, but not actually making a brake adjustment. The brake lever might not be engaging and holding the brake pedals engaged, but that is not an adjustment. It would require cleaning or grinding the teeth or bending the pawl so it will engage and hold the brakes. It's just not a typical "adjustment" as much as it would be a repair if it is not working. There is no procedure for adjusting the parking brake in the Repair Manual; however, there is a procedure for adjusting the brakes, but Steve said his brakes work fine. I just think Steve is so busy right now that he doesn't have time to spare to check all this out for himself. His nerves are frazzled and he needs some help. I hope I've been a little source of help rather than just another irritation. ![]()

| Jim I was wrong, and you were right. They are the same, the a's and the d's are the same.(albeit on the opposite sides). I would also agree that it is the ratchet mechansim that is not in the right place if the brakes work, but doesn't set for parking. Steve, the new holland parts and service website has drawings of most of the major components. Brake pedals are under transmission. Chris |

| Jim, Chris, and BTDT, Thanks to all for your responding to my question. I have the tractor brakes applied before setting the foot lever. It will not hold. I will have some time Sunday to check out the pawl situation. Again thanks to all for the help. Best Regards, Steve |
