Default Reccomendation on M7040 and price check.

Went looking at a M5140 and drove the M7040. Must say, I have driven all the major brands over the last couple of months and I am really impressed with this machiene. Just feels good and comfortable. Can anyone that owns one of these machienes give me a review. What kind of prices are there out there. Found one on the net in fla for $28899, which is a great price. Thanks for the help.

There are very many positives and very few negatives with the M7040. It has done everything I've asked of it. Pretty simple review.

Oh, I don't recommend the "SU" model. It is a severely stripped down tractor compared to the regular model. But it will save a few thousand.

That "great price" is indeed great if it has a FEL. However, as with anything "on the net", you will have to be very careful.

Paid $37,000 new but got two additional rear remotes, fork lift attachment, and a Top & Tilt.

what is your application? both of them are built on the same frame, just more hp (and limited slip) on the the 7040. i think the important dif is in the pto hp. havent checked lately, what's the price dif? i always defer to the larger....to me the hyd shuttle is just as important as a slight hp model dif. good luck.

Now that you mention it, the one in fla. is a "su" model and does have a fel. I really like all the bells and whistles model and think I can get into one for around $32000 according to another dealer. Just like anything else you pay for what you want. Boy I really liked how the tractor performed and the layout was really handy. I have about 50+ acres half open fields that need to be reclaimed half woods. Fence rows need to be grubbed out and new fences built, grade work to make things nice and smooth, snow removal, shredding the fields and maybe some round bailing in the future. How are the industrial tires as compared to the ag tires. I will not be making money with the tractor, just taking care of the property. Would be looking at a cab but spend all day inside and don't want to be inside a tractor, at least not at this point in my life.

I have the 5040 and the 7040,both tractors have been great. I guess my question is what you going to be doing with it?

    I must have missed that,sry!!
I think the only time you will notice the difference is mowing and I believe the 7040 can pick up alittle bit more but both tractors get the job done no problem. If your pulling a 6ft mower both will do it fine,if your using a 15ft batwing, sure the 7040 going to do it alittle better. If your moving 1,000lbs hay bales both are going to do it the same. I guess what im getting at I dont ever say I gotta use the 7040,when the 5040 is setting there, not once has the 5040 not done it and the 7040 has.Look at the 8540 if you wonna see a big difference. Only reason I may use the 7040 over the 5040 is to get in the a/c and listen to the radio

Thanks for the info. Sounds like for my needs either one will do more than I need. Just do not ever want to have to trade and hope this will be the last tractor. What options are there on the tractors if any one knows.

The best place to find all of the options is on the Kubota website. Choose "Build Your Own" and then all of the options will be available as you go through the process of building. You can also get an idea of the MSRP of the options new.

The function will total out the prices with options. It will be 10 - 12% over what you can negotiate at a dealer.

I traded my jd4105 with hst trans for the 7040 just recently. Love the 7040! Only con to the 7040 is the hst makes a way better tractor for most personal work and loader work. My teenage daughter could do most things with the hst wasily. The 7040 is a great tractor in my limited time with it. Mine was $35000 with cab and another $5000 for loader. I added an extra remote, 3rd function, air ride, cd upgrade, and rear wiper. Total $42500. Cab was totlly worth it. One other thing, when I got the open station jd my wife was all for a cab model. Told her we didnt need that. Well I use mine for about the same thing you intend and would have put twice the hrs on a cab model. Jump on the tractor in your spare time and get off sweat soaked and dirty got old. I do that all week at work. Never argue with your wife when she wants you to upgrade. God I love that woman!
