Re: anyone ever convert a truck be to a Dump bed?
Its been bugging me about the comment made of there being no difference between the standard f-250 and the f-250 Super duty as I have, what I have found is that at one time when first starting the production of f-250 Super duty they were built on the same frame as the f-350 and is probably, the early f-250 where built on the same frame as the f-150 only the 250 had heavier rear-end and suspensions, .
So this is the differences I found and why I was lead to believe My super duty is a much heavier duty truck then the standard f-250 was,
I remember the older f-250's and it was hard to tell them apart aside of it having more lug nuts on the wheels,
I wish I could find more out about my truck, the information is limited because of year make, Most info I've found is for the later models,
I still have not rulled out the possibility of a dump bed, reason being I once hauled 28 square of shingles in the back of my truck on a pallet, the suspension barely dropped 1" although the tires showed the load, another time I had hauled a heaping load of top soil the suspension barely droped, I used to tow a 28' camper and it would drop as much as 2" but I believe was due to being at the very rear from the tongue weight, Not an even load over the axle, How many of you who has commented on the Super duty f-250 actually own one and used it in case scenario of hauling heavy amount of weight on it? My truck is like my tractor, I never underestimate what it can do, so far both has done the job I've needed it to do, Thanks for all of your advice, but what I'm looking for is someone who migh have actually converted and used their truck for what I might be doing,

You are right but in 99 they came out with the SD and its basically unchanged to this date chassis and suspension wise.
I haul in my beds weekly. I can tell you there is a big difference in my current one with 11,500# GVWR and my old 10,000# & 9,909# truck
Either way the minute you exceed the 8,800# GVWR you are illegal. Like I said before fill you truck up with gas, weigh it, then see where you are at. Up till then you are just guessing.

My Ford experience is mostly cab-chassis F350-F550's but seeing how much those F350's squat with a moderate load, I don't need an F250 to know it won't work very well for you.
Don't less us stop you though, only way to know is to try.Derek

There is a guy around here that has one with the dump box on back and a skid steer across the front mounted sideways. Its a big unit with 3 8K axles and bumper pull behind a F350 dually. I can not imagine the tongue weight but it has to be twice as much as my trailer with its 1800#.

judging by "squat" is not all that accurate really. My truck came from the factory with 2 stage springs, it will squat pretty good for the first 2", then barely moves after that while adding weight. Most of the 1 tons I have seen come with just single stage springs and won't squat much from the beginning.

It's not that particular truck, but the whole Class 2/Class 3 that won't legally handle both a reasonable load of material and moderate sized CUT on a trailer.
So I think you are stuck with multiple trips. With that said maybe a dump trailer long enough to haul your tractor would be best. Your V10 ought to pull a dump trailer nicely.“I've had a wonderful evening, but this wasn't it.” ~ Groucho Marx
