Just haven't heard anyone comment on if the used ones I'm seeing are a good choice ... being off brand from LS, they won't have a sub frame connection, but its some huge money savings over buying new, especially considering the in-frequency of use.

Oh ok!
I wouder if you could get an LS sub-frame and adapt the off brand to the sub-frame? I know they say that the 3pth units are not good for the tractor, not sure why but that is what they say.Montana R4944

Re: Opinion on backhoe for 4047
I bought a used one off Craigslist and got seriously burned. Paid way too much for a small Kubota 3PH one that wouldn't fit either the CubCadet or the LS. Both have rear fuel tanks and the seat on the Kubota BH was too close in. The guy delivered it (I bet he was happy to be rid of it). I should have suspected the fresh orange paint. Before long, I could see lots of issues, including a repaired broken dipper stick. All the pins and their holes are worn out, most of the cylinders leak oil like sieves, several of the rods had the chrome pitted through, a real POS. It had been rode hard, and put away wet. And I bought it. Live and learn. $2800 seemed like a good price, but it wasn't.
As I worked for a long time, making it into a trailer mount, all that time and effort can be added to my cost. And now, here I am, looking for a backhoe. Henh. The system isn't broken...
...it's fixed!
