Re: Things that I don't need on my truck
Not sure why 1/4 mile times are all that important to a pickup owner, I want overall performance mostly pulling/hauling..The red-light to red-light aspect is nice but not necessary...If I wanted that I'd have bought a Camaro SS...They don't do well towing and hauling building materials though.
I have no idea what my GMC 6.2 would do in the 1/4...Not sure I'll find out unless I want to visit the tree again. It has been a while.BX23TLB & RTV1100 with 72" Power Angle Plow

The adjustable pedals in both my Ford and Nissan are one of our favorite features. For the little lady especially being 5-4 she can keep the seats off the dash and have a little more wiggle room. It has memory buttons that you program and with one touch adjust the pedals, seat, mirrors, ect. Great features in my eyes.
I do not care for the auto 4x4. Had it in a Ford and a GMC and neither were to my liking. In both I hit a patch of ice and was correcting when it engaged and made my corrections over exaggerated due to the instant gain in traction. I prefer to just select 4x4 when needed.

Numbers are right (the diesel spiked to 1000F rarely) and we're not talking about during a regen where it dumps raw fuel in the exhaust either. As usual you Ford cheerleaders are not reading what I write only what you want to see. I like direct injection (spent $24k on one) but in simpler form and caution the extra expense in repairs. I will be onboard with whomever builds a good large displacement direct injection engine that does NOT need turbos and all the extra useless expensive technology just to do what simpler V8's are doing without it.
Right now it looks like GM will be first in line with that new line of N/A direct injected engines and I will certainly be in line to test them once they're out. Although with the HEMI design, a direct injected version of the 5.7l and 6.4l would rock.
As for the 4x4 shifter, I like having that large shifter on the floor so I tell the truck when I want 4WD. Too bad those are gone too...Derek

Those are not gone I have one in my 2012 ram. I will only have a floor shifter and a manual 6 speed as long as available.

Re: Things that I don't need on my truck
As I understood it, the highway big semi rigs actually read faults, order the parts and deliver to the next truck stop.
Maybe the next step is to have a robot effect the repair.*
*(might not be all that far off as today's mechanics don't want to get their hands dirty)
