Just bought a new xr4046 shuttle shift. Like it so far! Have a few things I will be doing to it soon, modify brush guard, add a hydraulic top link, and a few more small things.
But I do have a question about the throttle controls. Has anyone had an issue with using both at the same time? I had set the hand throttle But would throttle up some with the foot pedal when loading bucket from dirt pile. It went into "limp mode" when I done this a few times. I'm thinking it's just confusing the drive by wire setup and is just part of it. I know in manual it states to use hand for working and foot for traveling. But it did not state if you did use both it would cause it to lose throttle position and go into limp mode. This isn't a big deal either way, just curious if others have tried operating both throttles with same outcome.

Welcome to TBN...................................

Other than keeping RPM's up to keep temps high to lessen soot build up in the DPF I can't help with your throttle issue as I have HST. These engines are designed to run at higher RPM's. Limp mode is usually caused by soot build up from running RPM's too low. I try to keep mine above 2K for any work.
I've added D-rings for securing the tractor to the trailer, LED lighting, mirror relocation, tool box, front and rear cameras, bucket hooks, front hyd. thumb for bucket and forks, Woods backhoe sub frame attaching brackets, and probably a few I can't think of right now.

You did ask about the brush guard. I Welded in some heavy expanded metal to mine.

Thanks for the response and for the pics. That's exactly one thing I will be doing is adding some expanded metal.
I don't believe it's a temp issue, already gone through a couple of regens with no issues and haven't had any of the lights for high soot load come on. Has only happened if I tried using both throttles. Here's the kicker, once it totally went into limp mode, where neither throttle would rev above ~1500. Then the other time the hand throttle would only rev to ~1500 but foot would work perfectly. That's why I'm thinking its a throttle position issue maybe. I'm going to call the dealer next week, but figured I would ask and see if yall have ran across this.

Check with your dealer about this. Generally, when it goes into limp mode the soot level is between 100-140% which limits RPM to 1800 and neither throttle should go above that RPM (at least that's the limit on mine) the 4046 limit may be different.
Not sure how the hand throttle would limit you to 1500 but not the foot throttle. The owners manual has a chart showing the dash light combinations that would be lit if in limp mode.

No lights come on when it has done it. Only thing I have found in Manual relating to it is, if throttle position is lost it will go into a limp home mode, Im thinking its seeing say 50% throttle on the hand, and then if you step on foot pedal it confuses it because it sees a lower throttle % for a second. But I would have really thought it would be capable of reading both simultaneously without messing up. Not a big deal just have to change the way I like to operate if this is the case. And like you said, they like higher rpms and heat anyway.

Hand and foot throttle are electronic. Changing either throttle position moves a potentiometer sending the electronic signal to the engine. Maybe your hand throttle pot may have a bad spot in it. I have the service and parts manual for mine but it doesn't go into detail. I'm sure the dealer will help sort this out for you.

Here's how I modified my XR4046hHC brush guard. I install the Clevis when trailering the tractor, just run a chain thru it. I install a Clevis to drawbar to secure rear end.

Fit-Rite Hydraulics (Mountainviewranch) is excellent supplier of hydraulic top and side links. He builds all welded cylinders which IMHO are better than rod type cylinders.

That brush guard looks great! Going to copy it almost exactly if you don't mind! Do you happen to remeber the gauge of the expanded metal you used? Looks to be 1.5" opening. Thanks.

It was some expanded metal that I had. I'll find some more pictures from construction that might help.

It was all made from scrap materials I had.
