Last Fall I found a bolt lying next to the deck after removing it for the winter. I looked at the deck and the underbody, side panel, motor, and wheel areas for something that was loose, visible bolt hole, or anything else that would take the 1" long, 3/8" bolt. No luck. Searched again this Spring while greasing the deck and tractor. Still nothing. Yesterday while mowing, the tractor suddenly leaned right and wouldn't go forward fast. Limped it back to the driveway, crawled underneath and found 3 body/frame holes missing bolts/nuts. Checked the other side, all 3 were loose but still there. Quick trip to ACO, had the Mrs. hold the body up a little while I lined up the bolts and attached the nuts, and all is good. Seems like either poor design or poor assembly by the dealer.
How much checking do all of you do to verify the nuts, bolts, etc. are in place. Annually, only during oil changes, never?
I'll be re-checking the bolts every few months now, that's for sure.
