Default John Deere 650 utility tractor front mount snowblower

I just bought a 1987 John Deere 650 geared utility tractor. I'm looking for a front mount snow blower. I talked with my local John Deere dealer and he said there was only one model that fit it and it didn't perform well. The rear three point hitch snow blower doesn't perform well either because high range is too fast and the low range is too slow. Is there any one out there who has one that works and if so what model# and do they still make them.

    Thank you,
    Peter from Maine

I used a rear mouned snowblower for 10+ years on a 750 and it worked well. I believe the front mount snow blower requires an add-on electric clutch belt driven off the front pully. I don't believe it is available any longer from JD although it sometimes is available on ebay. The rear blower I had was 60" wide.

You may find it difficult to operate a pto snowblower with a geared tractor, unless the tractor has a "supercreep" gearing capability. Full blower speed must be maintained to operate the blower properly, and that translates into higher engine rpms for the pto. Without a supercreep, you will resort to constantly slipping the clutch to match tractor speed (slow) to accommodate the snow load into the blower.

Even a hydraulic powerpack (for a hydro blower) will require high PTO input (higher engine rpm) which would still leave you with a ground speed problem.
