Leveler blade or scraper box for Terramite TC5

I posted this question in another Tractor.net forum 1st and it was suggested that I move it to another. Then it was again suggested that I move it (to BIY) which makes sense now that I've been to Tractor.net more than a few visits now and am getting (a little) more familiar with this type communication.

I have a 2003 Terramite TC5 2wd loader/backhoe with a 20hp Kohler gas engine. I'm on 2 acres of very hard reasonably level ground in Tucson (AZ.) that I'd like to put about 600' of gravel road on. I'd like to find a towable soil mover similiar to one I saw on Ebay but it was in NY.

Any Ideas? It was 12' wide. Just right. I have the cleared roads (paths really) and would like to level them nicely and then put about an 8" abc fill and compact over with a crown.

I'm new at this but I have a lot more time than money so hiring it out is out of the question.

The biggest problem I see is the terremite doesn't have a rear hitch. The backhoe is frame mounted and has no hitch points. Then if you take the backhoe off you remove so much weight that it wouldn't have enough tracton to pull more than about 4' of boxblade and that isn't any wider than the loader bucket so you havn' gained anything.
I would sugest that you look around and find an older tractor to do the drive. An Allis WD/WD45 , Farmall H/M , Oliver 66/77/88, John Deere A/B/G/50/60/70 will all do the job and can be bought for very little.

Are you able to weld? As mentioned, since you don't have any 3-point hookups, I would expect that your best bet would be to pull something behind. There are many simply things that can be made or bought to level out the gravel.

These are expensive to buy, but would not be too much to build ...

I would not think that you could pull something too much wider than the tractor and still get the crown effect you are looking for.

Do you have to grade the existing sub-base or is it ready to go?

There are at least three threads that might help to read. One is a thread about attaching a box blade to a front end loader that's worth reading. My thought is that a small box blade (4' -5') could be attached to the front end loader with adjustable gauge wheels in front of the box blade. The wheels would be used to adjust for crown and to actually make it work on the front of the tractor. The concern I have would be not to bend the loader arms. It might need to be attached to the tractor frame with a pivoting set of arms so most of the stress is on the tractor frame and then the loader only would be used to raise it up and down.

Maybe someone else can think of a way to attach one to the rear of the Terramite.

Yep, I can weld and have an ocy acet and a mig so am looking for ideas for home made. I need to prep the sbu grade 1st. Thanks for the link. Felix

I appreciate your post. I really want to use a tow behind because of the possible loader arm damage issue.
