I’ve got a damaged wheel and a tire that is splitting at the sidewall. R4 tire type; is there a good aftermarket replacement for the whole assembly or should I source the wheel and tire independently?

Start hunting at tractor wreckers.

Here are a couple to start with.

There likely are quite a few other wreckers that aren't listed on that site.

Here in Oregon we have a place, Farmland Tractor.

I don't know if wheels from other models will fit. For some tractor models, they also have a variety of wheel sizes depending on the tread pattern. AG, Turf, or Industrial.

Hmmm... looking at what I think is a front wheel on E-Bay, also look at the 1023E and 1026R

Oh that last one is at Farmland Tractor. But, they also have had a large selection of yellow rims.

It wouldn't hurt to try to verify the rim offset, bolt pattern, and center hole when ordering.

Have you priced the rim at a JD dealer? I’m always surprised how cheap some stuff is with JD, yet other stuff is stupid expensive. Most tire shops can get the tractor tire you need.
